There is a lug on the black plastic screen adjuster which limits the maximum up right position of the screen. It seems to me that if I cut off the lug I would be able to raise the locators up by one or two notches. As far as I can see this lug is not load bearing and its main function is to stop the adjusters rotating out of position when the screen is moved up and down. another couple of notches might be all I need to get the blast over the top of my helmet. Anyone think of a good reason why I should not do this - especially from the safety view point. Again it seems to me that the spindle and metal locating bushes are load bearing not this plastic lug. Anyone done this or have a view ?

Have just fitted a adv screen on my standard GS today, just used adjusters from normal screen(so no stops) could not tell any differance between mid position and fully raised at upto 65mph, seamed to be best at 3/4 raised,I'am 6', seat is standard in low position, just don't know if I can get used to looking through the screen rather than over it.

I did it on my gsa. No problems but you might still not be happy with the result. Worth a try. JJH

I did it !

No problems, about 30mins of faffing about but well worth the effort.
I did it on my 08 GSA and again on the 2010 model. I'm just shy of 6ft tall, so with the seat in the low position the wind misses the peak on my helmet by a couple of inches. If I stretch my neck I can get a nice blast of cool air under the peak.

Works for me, and if you don't like it just lower the screen again :thumb

Yep no probs :thumb
Did it on my mates 57 GSA
he is 6'4" and it is better
less buffetting
Farting about job but a worthy mod and its FREE:bounce1

thanks for the comforting and useful replies - I'll get me hacksaw out and let you know what happens......

RESULT

Chopped off the lugs and put screen to new highest setting. Finally I have got my helmet under the wind blast. so after 8000miles, replacing standard Gs screen with adventure and NN winglets, trying tobinators, loads of time, effort and frustration I have finally got a quiet and turbulence free cockpit. No ugly retro fit screen, no screen extension and no tobinators. so it is possible to have no turbulence and no or negligible wind noise with a standard set up which is contrary to some advice on here. Now if I crane my neck up wards I can begin to hear the wind flow rushing my helmet which had been creating some noise previously. Can now ride without earplugs and with visor up at 80 mph if I wanted to but neither is a good idea imo. so if you think that another couple of cm screen height might do the trick for you - cut off your lugs !

I am 5'10", seat on low setting, shoei full face helmet , no peak.

No need to shout -I can hear you ! :thumb2

and you will not be looking through the screen unless you are a real midget. The wind protection is much better so look out, you will be going into corners rather more quickly!
