Went for a spin yesterday, bike started well, ticked over smoothly and rode normally. Joined the motorway, opened throttle and while moving into outside lane, for literally a split second felt like bike was about to stall!!!! and then picked up as if nothing had happened. Not a pleasant experience I have to admit. For 120 miles or so she behaved perfectly. Did it again under same circumstances and not repeated since.

I had replaced plugs with new Brisk x 4, will replace with originals to see if this has been a contributory factor...... but wouldnt have thought so....

Hall sensor on its way out?.....:nenau

Your thoughts guys...

Could be a water in the fuel or your stick coils starting to fail. I'd start with the cheapest options first, clean fuel, then try new plugs before replacing stick coils or hall sensor.:D

I had this on mine while caning the hell out of it. About 7000 rpm? Presumed it was my clutch... Sold if shortly afterwards...

Problem disappeared.

Have since renewed plugs (brisk), engine oil/filter change, new air filter, gearbox and final drive oil change and running great.

Contemplating valve adjustment and TB balance but motor sounds quiet and smooth, so asking myself is it necessary?

Would break my heart to sell mine.

Personally I wouldn't bother checking or replacing anything. It sounds like you have had a transient fault which has disappeared. Chances are it may never happen again.

I've had several uncommanded shut downs over the years I've ridden my bike and always wandered what caused them, knocks your confidence for a while, but they haven't occured since.

Depends on just how hard you were pushing, it had a two stage rev limiter, stage one drops the power, as a warning, keep pushing, and it will rev limit properly.

Wasnt aware of this at all and could very well be the cause, appreciate it, thank you

I've had the same issue twice in 92,000 miles, failing stick coils both times. If it doesn't recur don't worry, if it does see if you can borrow known good ones from a friend, they are easy to swap in and out to confirm the fault, or not.

New coil packs last year, not to say they arent failing though, as you know can pack in at any time.

Appreciate the input.

Steve

Possibly the old favourite with the wires in the ignition switch cable breaking intermittently.
Put bike on centre stand and turn the bars from lock to lock with the engine running.
If it cuts out,repair/replace the cable.
