right, went to get a set of bt021 and bt020 fitted today, confirmed all the costs etc 350chf ( £211) all in, i turn up and then the thieving ****ers wanted 80chf (£48) to fit the tyres EACH! told them in my finest swiss german :ronno to feck off and ill go to germany instead and get them fitted for €10 each and claim the 19% tax back which makes it even cheaper and they can shove thier " support local business" right up thier arse, not sure i said everything correctly as they looked at me a bit oddly but im sure the general meaning got thru.

rant over i guess..... :augie

And then we hear that local business have problems keeping their customers, shows that they actually actively try to get ridge of them:)

Swissrob have you removed the cat from your bike? Cos what I've heard this will get you baned from the country. :guitarist

We get this kind of thing a lot here in Turkey. Foreigners also have to put up with being quoted higher costs than Turks (not every time, mind) simply because of the assumption that if living here we must be rich.

banned and locked away in the secret tunnels and bunkers in the mountains....... standard exhaust on mine - wouldnt mind having a remus downpipe tho, but the swiss authorities :ronno are very anal about any modifications and there are occasional "police checks" where they go over vehicles and look for mods - i have been pulled twice on the motorway and at the border but that was when the bike was standard.

i have not looked into downpipes but have not seen any for sale, only end cans.

Oh i got my swiss mate to give a few places a call and he was given the same sort of price for tyre change... how the hell do these places stay in business i ask myself ... because the swiss in trust a swiss shop and believe they get swiss quality for a highly inflated price.

Have you seen www.mopedreifen.de ? Delivery rates are quite low and you can check if there is a local tire fitter who will do it for less than a gazillion. And you are right about not accepting rates like that.

yes seen similar sites but if i get it done in germany i need to go to a local place and buy the tyres there as i can get the 19% tax back from the customs because i live in switzerland :thumb

When I lived in Geneva, we'd always go to France for food shopping, as it was so much cheaper (and better). There were very strict rules on what you could bring in (it was something like enough for one meal), and my friend was stopped and checked once, and found to have one melon more than allowed. Rather than give up his melon, he said he's take it away, and turned around.

He then drove to a tiny border post a few miles away, and was pulled over again. They asked if he had anything to declare, and he said no. "Are you sure?" the guard asked "Not even a melon".

So the melon was lost, and the lesson learned.

Re mods - my experience, and others, is a little different. I have never seen so many Harley's with straight through pipes as in CH - esp at "The Love Ride"

For importing and registering it has to be std ... but I ran a Duke with Temis for 3 years, a GS on a y piece and remus, a heavily modded buell and never had any issues.
And the buell is very loud ...
A long term friend here runs a Moro Guzzi with Termis, a differnt fairing, lowere pegs, riser bars etc ... no issues at all

I used them a while ago - great prices ... but then try getting them fitted locally!! The local BMW dealer asked for 75 CHF per tyre

do they ship to NL ? I don't see it listed in their site

last week I got a quote from local BMW dealer for a pair of conti TA at 293 euros plus 90 euros for fitting, total 383 euros :eek:

mopedreifen sells them for 196 euros (delivered to Belgium) :thumb

Not wanting to give a plug, but have you tried SK Moto Parts. I have ordered a few Wuderlich parts through them and they have matched German prices. They are the Touratech distributer in Switzerland and have always been pretty helpful. My local dealer in Geneva (Chuard Motos) has always been good and did a free fitting when I ordered my last set through them (don't know what they would charge otherwise).

In three years I have only ever had my Autoroute sticker checked!

Try with http://www.reifenversand.com/ - they ship to NL.

I don't know which dealer you have tried, but I paid ~ 250€ for Tourance (fitted) at Molenaar there last in October.
