Shamed you into taking the old girl out then, after yesterday's phonecall :P

Yes you did mate.

I took it over lanes very local to me, some i had'nt ridden since on an XR.
A very tough ride, came off twice, broke my mirror etc.

Later got to the very top of the Berwyns and after clouting a rock with the crash bar the starter gave a solid "Clunk" Feck feck middle of nowhere and bike wont start, everyway is up hill:(

The positive connection to the battery had snapped so was soon on my way again.

A great ride and probably the hardest I've done on the airhead by a long way(and alone :nono ), reminded me of just how good the low down power is, how heavy the GSPD is, and how little grip the front TKC has even in the dry off road
But most of all, what a good 'companion' an airhead feels :thumb

R80 GS & R100 Side Stand

I got side stands fitted to our bikes at Overland Solutions http://overlandsolutions.com/ They have been the best modification that I have had done to the bikes.

I also looked at getting their panniers however decided to get Jesse panniers instead. My biggest mistake  The Jesse look great however both sets broke on the dirt roads of Kazakhstan and Russia.

Ernie at overland solutions said that I should have a new strenghtened backend (rear frames) for the trip. I didn't take his advice and have now had 2 welding jobs done to the R80.

If you are planning a serious trip speak to Ernie - that's my advice.
