I used to do the odd NREC enduro on Ropner’s land back in the day, don’t even know if they still exist. I remember a spectator getting killed at one. Young lad lost control of his bike, hoisted it onto its back wheel and hit the chap square in the chest. Parents had just bought him the bike and it was his first event. That were a sad do for all.

Not good but things do happen unfortunately. I remember a young girl spectator being killed at a mountain bike race in Wales when a bike went flying into the crowd just the wrong place at the wrong time.

Beta has blown another fork seal so the front brake isn’t great. Fortunately we’re not too far from home so will be sorted for tomorrow but the rest of today will have to be steady.

Managed a third place yesterday and burned the midnight oil but we didn’t have the correct seals so it’s too dangerous to race today with a set of forks and brakes that don’t work properly. He’s gutted but these things happen.

He’s at the right end of the pack there, podium places aren’t easy to come by

His two main championship rivals had issues so he’s still leading by seven points. He’s going to get some riding with his college mate Reece Jones who’s 4x British champ and 4x Weston beach race winner so we’ll see how that turns out.
