PCP might not be such a good option for me. I seem to be doing approx 35,000kms a year. I would imagine 100,000kms over 3 years would add a nice premium to my payments.

A mate just ordered his Triple Black Adventure, he got that up to €25,500 with the options list (boxes, Nav 5 etc etc)
The Irish government adds a lovely extra (illegal) tax onto the price of vehicles called VRT, its not so bad on motorcycles but it's still around €1200 or €1300 on top of the actual price of the bike.
F**k off Vehicle Registration Tax!!!

All fair points - but have to say that I have gelled well with my 1190 S and do not regret the change to the orange side.
Height - not a problem for me, dash is fine and you can at least read the speedo rather than having to reply on the Nav 5
Never had a GS where I did not need to change the screen and are you sure you had not left the heated seats on
Will be very interested to test ride the new 1290 S when it is released to see how it compares to mine.
I'm 5'8" so that's the issue for me but a couple inches taller it probably would have been fine.
The actual dash was great but it's the menu system that I found annoying i.e. to change a mode for suspension. You had to drill down too far but really these are all minor things and more preferences than anything else.
I also changed the screen on my GS to a MRA Vario but the big difference to me is in the screen adjustment where the GS screen will fold right down out of your way. Again this is probably more a height thing for me.
The cruise on the 1290 didn't work nearly as well either and fluctuated quite a lot. This is something my friend mentioned to me before getting on the bike.

Exactly and I am sure I would have been happy with the 1290 but really comes down to personal preference and I just gelled more with the GS

More like $29.5k and thats about what I paid for mine, maybe a touch less. Ride away price anyway.
It's definetly dealer dependent.
My local BMW dealer are arrogant arse holes.One of the reasons I wouldn't buy a new BMW as I'd hate to have to deal with them for the inevitable warranty claims.
My KTM dealer happens to be an old mate so that helps !
The last new BMW I bought I got from CW in Dorchester and they were great but it's a bit of a faff going over the channel just for that !

Even if they were brilliant I wouldn't be using them much as nothing in the current BMW range floats my boat.
And how do you deduce that a Guzzi Audace is a bat bike ? Because it's black ? You need to get out more .

My local dealer tells me £14.2k plus around £1.5k for Premium pack, still no sign of the updated GS on BMW Motorrad's configurator.......I quite fancied wasting 5 minutes of my life playing around with options
