At the risk of incurring the wrath of you fellas, I'm going to ask some questions that have probably already been answered. :rob :nono

Here goes!

1. Easiest route into Morocco from Spain? By easiest I mean the one whereby I'm least likely to get probed (fleeced) by officials.

2. Tyre Choice? I plan on breaking my cherry with a little bit of off road, pistes etc. I have on a set of Metz Tourance which are tried and trusted on the sealed stuff but I reckon would be as useful as tits on a bull off road. Am I right? Would you be inclined to bring a set of knobblies to throw on for the loose stuff. Anyone recommend a compromise that would do for both?

3. GPS? I Haven't got one but I can find my way from anywhere to everywhere else with a map and compass. Would I be bothered my arse getting one?

4. Any suggested routes/itiniaries. I'll have 7 days in the country. What do I absotively posoloutly need to do/cannot miss? My interests include eating and drinking to excess, , loafing about the place, , acting in a blase and cavalier manner in the face of risks and dangers I clearly don't understand, :homer.

5. Anyone want to come? I'm going beginning August, 3 days to drive down, 3 days to drive back, 7 days there and 1 day spare.

Why?

If you know they've already been asked and answered????

You'll actually get more information by using the search button than asking again anyway....some things have been so well covered that people stop answering....give it a try ;)

Pure fekking lazyness. :spitfire

Ceuta, for me anyway. Three times now and no problems. Can give you chapter and verse if need be, or someone else is bound to post. There's a tourist "helper" there called Mohammed (aren't they all :mmmm) and you'll probably have to slip him a few dirhams to ease the process. Treat it as part of the experience...........:D They changed the border layout a while back, but it's easy and a lot easier than it used to be getting in AND more importantly, getting back out.

Top tip. There's an Ibis Hotel about half a mile from the border. Park up on the way thru and put your gps/shiny bits etc back on the bike having stashed them for the border crossing and do the reverse on the way back.

Start of May, 3 of us did 4,200 miles return trip there on TKC80's. Front good for another 4.5k, rear got a few miles left - but not much. Rode at no more than 80mph on motorway, to save wear & tear. Did London to Plymouth - Santander. Down thru Spain, down thru & across Morocco, back up and back up thru Spain to Santander - Plymouth and home. Alternatives are Heindenau which are getting a good rep, but I have no experience of those.

As you're only in Morocco for 6 days I wouldn't take any to put on, I'd ride down on them. Then again, if you're only going for 7 days, and in August, how far down do you anticipate going? And how much off-road? Gonna be very F-hot down by the dunes and in general

You don't NEED one, but it certainly helps, especially if you're off road - it'll tell you where you are (ie lost and nowhere near where you should be :D) Also handy to know how far to destinations and ETA etc.

erm.................You may well end up riding everywhere fast and see nothing until you stop. How much d'you want to see, of d'you just want a taster? You can cover ground quickly in Morocco if you want to, just remember there ain't no ambulance service.............and from experience no driving test :P

In August? Nope :D Are you ferrying, or going down thru France? See comment above re temperatures.

It should be pleasantly warm by them.

(The forecast for Errachidia is 40°C this week, and it's only June)

yip.

It does annoy me rather though....most people , including myself, will spend ages helping out on a question, but not when the same basic things have been asked and answered so many times...

It's just rude.

Rude and lazy.

Now where's me gum??? :)

Thanks a million Jon, that's exactly the sort of info I was to lazy to search for.

It is just going to be a taster trip this time.

Due to budgetary constraints I plan to drive down through France and Spain through the night cat-napping (Nick Sanders style) as needs be (did this in Norway two years ago, way north to Kristiansand over 24 hours, works well). I'll rest for a day when I arrive in Morocco and then get going on day two.

Yeah it'll probably be hot enough to poach my nuts but I'll refer the gentleman to the point I made earlier about being blase and cavalier etc. It's an adventure after all.

Will look up your trip report for more gems. Thanks again.

Tanger for me took less than 10min and the police man filled all the forms in for us.
then refused the 5 euro note we offerd :thumb
