Looking for a way out
I've put my rediculous folding di blasi purchase in for an MOT check. The tester said it would fail due to a couple of things I'm suspicious of:
- insufficient damping on the rear suspension
- No steering stops.

He did admit he had ever seen anything like it, and I do feel that given the nature of the beast (limited to 25 mph) he could have been a bit gentlers with me!

I didn't think that a moped (or 25mph max) need suspension at all - does it need a damper too :nenau I haven't opened the suspension units, but I suspect there is only a spring in there and other bikes of this model get an MOT.

The bike does have steering stops, they just allow a complete 90 degree turn before they hit the stops. That how it folds.

Does anybody know a more friend MOT bike place in Surrey?

As ever wisdom sought and gratefully recieved :beerjug:
Cheers,
Jimbo

PS - Why do people keep asking why I bought it and appear surprised when I can really offer any kind of answer....

PPS- can you turbo charge a 2 stroke ? when its gets the MOT, I start the performance mods :moped:

Jimbo, as a rule of thumb, if the MOT tester thinks that the lack of damping could lead to loss of control of the vehicle, they can fail it on that. If the bike pogo's like a kangaroo on amphetamines then it's a fair bet they are shagged and you'll need to get new ones or fix the old ones.
Failing that, make up 2 solid struts as they can't fail it for being a hardtail. <LOL>

Gordon Farley in Guildford is a sound place, with a sensible attitude (not where mine failed on the pads I hasten to add!)

Well isn't that a coincidence. After going to a trails meeting on Sunday to see if if would suit my tyre kicking son (care of Surrey Schoolboy Trials Club as recommended here), I was looking at Gordon Farley's Web site last night as trials bikes. Maybe I can visit and kill two birds....

I have to say that pogoing like a kangaroo on amphetamines sounds rather fun :bounce1
