I remember several years ago being told that fitting airbox bits from an RT would allow engine to breath more and increase power . So are there any tweeks for our old fashioned bikes :beerjug: to make them a little faster ?

I thought it was the other way around - if you took the GS air intake trumpets and fitted them to the RS, it would alter the characteristics giving a bit more power but lower mpg.

Sure there was something in Ride magazine a few months ago about it.:blagblah

Fitting GS intake tubes to other models improves their torque but reduces power. Fitting 1100S intakes to the GS does the opposite &, combined with other breathing mods (air filter & free-flowing exhaust), you find a few more ponies in the stable & no appreciable loss of torque. After that, you're into lots more money so making it lighter, handle better & stop quicker are much easier.

It's a funny old world - as i've pposted before, those with RT's and RS's want to fit the GS inlet tubes and those with a GS want to fit the RS's tubes.

And both are after the same thing :D:D:D

Pity when they took 30 kilos away they took 30% of the build quality with it...:augie

My thoughts exactly....... and they programmed the breakdown chip to work faster in the 1200's as well :D:D:D:D. Ok, so based on the font of information above my adventure is fast enough and I'll stay happy with it. Thanks to all :beerjug:

Don't worry about more power, loose weight off it and you'll have better brakes as well!

Junk everything you don't need or use everyday, pannier rails, rear foot pegs, tool kit and all the other crap that you're hauling around. Instant and free to everyone:thumb2

For clarification its R1150RS inlet tubes not R1100S. I know because I bought the wrong ones the first time round. Larger diameter inlet tubes from the RS improve performance further up the rev range – makes a slightly noticeable difference if you ride 5K rpm upwards otherwise don’t bother.

As has been said, Y-Piece and can, set of shocks and leave it there or it will start to get expensive – I know:blast:)

Buy a more powerfull bike !!

Have you tried an Accelerator Module?
Certainly felt quicker, but I've taken it off as high mpg is more important to me than high bhp.

Just buy a 1200 problem solved or lower the gearing for better acceleration.
