More Questions on Brakes???

What is the quickest and easiest method for cleaning the pistons without taking them to bits & bleeding the system?

What should you use to clean the pistons to remove the stubborn winter sh*t? And what not to use?

On slightly different issue - EBC HH pads
Apart from them being to flipping long & needing filed....????
Has anyone had issues with the retaining pin not fitting through the EBC pads...? (Adv 03)

I'm well pissed off with EBC for making replacement pads that dont fit ???

Zoom Racing, who took 3 weeks to send me the pads that were allegedly in stock....(pish customer service!!!)

Get yourself an old toothbrush (wife's) and some clean brake fluid. Remove one caliper from the fork leg and remove the pads. Using a c clamp of some description, clamp pistons on one side of the caliper only back so they are fully seated.
Very very carefully, squeeze the brake lever a tiny amount and watch the unclamped pistons move out. Do not squeeze too much or you will pop the pistons out of the caliper. Once you have them exposed, dip the toothbrush in brake fluid and scrub around them - this will remove all the crap pretty quickly. It will not damage the seals either as other solvents would do.
Push them back and repeat for the other 2 pistons etc. Dry the caliper and replace pads. Mount caliper back on fork leg and squeeze brake lever to build up pressure. Repeat for other caliper.
By the way, wear gloves (wife's) when doing this. Brake fluid does nasty things to skin and internal organs.

Regading EBC pads, I have never had a problem with their fitment. Are you sure you have ordered the correct pads ?.

Yes and nasty things to you levi's as well, had some explaining to do why all of the sudden my jeans started to fall to pieces. Honestly honey I did not work on the bike with them

if you've got BMW stamped on the calipers, it sounds like you've been sent pads that fit the servo braked or 1150R models, they're 4mm longer than the ones needed on a GS, the EBC ( and other manufactures ) brake spec book lists them the same, but servo are 81mm long, non servo 77mm-- i'm having trouble with deliverys as well.

With regards to the pads I'm just off to double check the EBC fitting guide but I'm sure the pads are the same but I'm also sure there was no mention of different pads for non servo bikes which mine is!!!!

Does anyone have the model/part nos for the non servo bike?

EBC 335 are for non servo models;
EBC 294 are for servo models ;
the ebc ref book shows all GS's post 2001 needing 294, which is wrong.

ferodos are 2125 or 2124 .
