To add to my hot start issues 560 miles in and it's throwing fault codes. Switched the bike off yesterday removed the key and the screen comes up with ING OFF, I guess meaning ignition off, which it obviously is. Returned to the bike ten minutes later and the message is still there. Turned the ignition on and initially nothing happens for about 10 sec, then A65 appears on the screen and nothing else. 5 sec later and it goes through its self check and once complete, the trip meters and clock have been zeroed? It's booked in on mon for its first service and true to form BMW have never heard of the hot start problems or this fault code, will wait and see what happens, but I'm beginning to think I brought a Friday bike.:blast

As others have said there is a well known hot start problem. Mine was reluctant but never let me down.
I had no probs in 4k miles and loved the bike, unfortunately was forced to brake hard whilst well lent over to avoid a loose horse and the rest is history.

Have you crash bars fitted? IF not, I have a set of SM Motech might suit you :D

Too late Harry, BMW crash bars being fitted at first service:blast

Always worth checking on these F/G650GS singles that your battery connections are good as loose ones cause a load of elecrical woes!

I second the probability that there is a loose battery connector. It happened to me twice during the first 1500 kms before the loose connector was found. 5600 kms now and nothing but joy with that bike!

I've found that re-fitting the airbox after a service can push down on the battery connectors and cause them to loosen very slightly. I now make sure that the connectors are done up fairly tight and so that they are flush with the battery.

Even slightly loose connectors caused my bike to cut-out for a second or so a few times on a trip to work the day after I'd serviced it. Tightened them up and everything's been OK since.
