I bought a Merino lamb skin rug from a lovely lady in Shipston on Stour, so I nipped down via the As and Bs to fetch it. Yes, she would have posted it, but Where's the fun in that?
Hit the road about 07.00 to have a leisurely ride down. Travelling light.

No dramas, but no spare time for pictures either, roads like this, not all straight, but this kind of size, or smaller.
Whatever did the Romans do for us?

Rug collected I went to find some breakfast. This lovely little tea room looked lush, so I risked it.

Mrs. Brown's- but there were no boys, and no smelly bikermates either. The breakfast and service were outstanding.
Proper coffee, proper farm milk, proper farm butter, proper free range eggs, proper dry cured bacon, fresh mushrooms, fresh tomatoes, proper bread. In fact it was PROPER.

One egg was overdone, so I got a second coffee by way of making up. I cleaned the plate.

Set amongst old, traditional stone buildings.

After breakfast I took the interesting route home, future seat pad stuffed in my tankbag.
First spot, the bridge at Brandon, near Wellsbourne.

Then Hatton locks...

There is a lovely tea shop over the bridge and up the towpath a bit, you can ride to it, but I was still 'blowed out 'ansome '.
Onwards. I have oft wanted to stop and look around this little church, set right beside the road towards Knowle. So I did.

Then this road name caught my eye on the way down. Maybe, depends how many Rattlers I've drunk.....

20260706_121020.jpg

Then meandered my way home, contemplating how I was going to fashion my seat pad, the meaning of the universe and whether there was a beer in the fridge for when I got home.
The wee vee is very frugal, very efficient and very easy to ride. A quick 175 mile round trip for breakfast and home for lunch. 75mpg, can't complain at that.

That's impressive mpg for a decent sized bike; do you have to work at it ; or is it your normal ride?

Nice one Simon 👍

Just my normal pace, riding to speed limits to the yard! It is a challenge to hold the speed limit to the line drawn between the posts and accelerate from that line. Likewise slowing to be at the exact speed limit exactly on the line and then hold it for the duration, interruptions not withstanding.
Blasting and braking is not for me. The difference between 60 and 70 is only 6 seconds / mile.... one lorry and you've burned petrol and rubber for nothing.

Cracking looking breakfast that, although missing sausage, potato cakes and black pudding😜😃

I can't eat sausages so swapped for extra egg and bacon.
I'm not sure the tweedies of the Cotswolds eat Pennine food. 😁
