Great Stuff!!! Makes you want to get the bike out and head off.....anywhere.
The thought of the pivot bolt coming adrift makes my ares pucker though. The first time I've heard of that, normally to get them out you need heat, long extention bar and 2kg of plastic explosive.

Brilliant!
Inspirational to see someone out there having a real adventure on a GS.
Looking forward to reading more :thumb2

I'm having difficulty seeing the pivot bolt :(

Any clues on where I should look, and I know which photo is the one :blast

Nice to see you had a good time, bet the snow was fun

I bet he won't thank you for that:blast:D:D

Follow the allen key, for the pivot bolt that only required 3000 miles of rough roads to come undone:rob

When you think you are all alone

As we were going down a 160 km track, I think to myself "it would be funny if someone try’s to overtake!!!"
All I can say is never temped fate :blast
The next minute, we are pulling over to let another BMW through, only problem for this thread it was a GS1200, well at least it has GS in the name.

DSCF4118.jpg
The biker is named Chris and all we can say is, he is mad and a great friend and a Daker mechanic. I told you - MAD

DSCF4153.jpg
Did I say that the track is about 160 km long, it goes through boulder fields, across dried up lake beds and SAND, I hate SAND, did Cain mention that earlier :augie
Anyway, in the middle of this track we find these two Berber's. They had run out of fuel. So one can of petrol later they where off. And we are lighter

Note to self, do not take so much equipment, we need to be lighter, bikes sink in sand.

DSCF4159.jpg
This picture, is when we all remember that we can all get hurt very easily. At the village that is in the middle of the track, we find a lad you has full-thickness burns to his whole forearm. He had done it a couple of days before. No first aid, no understanding of what to do.
One first aid session later and a lot of advise, which included a change of dressing and another can of petrol, we are all off.

Morocco 029.jpg
After coming off again, in the SAND, did Cain mention I do not like SAND, Cain had come off as well, we found a hard spot (no SAND) Chris rode my bike to the next hard spot (as Cain is to big for my bike).

Morocco 028.jpg
The bike swop, just a short walk.:clap

Considering we only used 1 set each for the whole trip (approx. 3500 miles) they held up well especially as it was on all types of surfaces. And they still have alot of tread on them.

+1. Fine tyre. Got all the way to India on one rear. 20k kms.

John
