Just to keep you updated, I've planned a route (following many of the excellent links from here and the XRV forum) and so far there is a possible band of 4.
2 weeks in early May 2008 for a bash around Morocco (riding via down Spain only, not France).
If anybody else is still interested then offer a reply, also, we hope to meet and discuss on Sat 27th Oct at the Ace Cafe, 12 noon.

bye for now.......

Hi Jeff,

I would be very interested to find out more about your plans. How long will the trip take and roughly what will it cost?

Hi Storm 1 - It's planned that we'll be going in the first 2 weeks on May 2008, more than likely 14 days, but it may run to 15 or 16, depends on the ferry times.
The cost shouldn't be too bad at all. The ferry is around £350 max, fuel should be around £140ish, as for hotels - anything from £5-£20max per night, but I also fancy one or two nights camping but who knows at these costs. So, with a little beer money and some pressies we should be able to go around in £1100ish? (We’ll probably spend more on the ferry there and back than the whole time in Morocco!). Come along to the meet, your close to me (Hook, Hants).

Demito - Your site was fantastic and if I'd found yours first it would have saved me a lot of time. Excellent reporting - it was really useful and I do plan to steal a few of your ideas (well, you did post it out to read!) - thanks (you can come along if you like, we could do with a guide)

PS - I'll be riding an Africa Twin (but I'm sure you'll keep up)

Cheers for now

Storm 1 - we've moved the date to meet and discuss from next Saturday to the Sunday, same time (12), same place (Ace Cafe, A406).
See you there?

My morrocan dash rides cost the riders approx £1100-£1200 ( doesn't include channel crossing), thats riding through france and spain, ferry to N africa, and all accomodation is in hotels/hostels and out of season time. And thats only for 9 days door to door .

Believe me, I'd love to. But other priorities right now: preparing for 6 weeks Chili, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina :augie
Happy you like the site.

Close to Hook

Am planning a trip to Morocco next year (either April/May or Sept/Oct).
I had a partner but unfortunately he has had to pull out. Was wondering if anyone else out there fancied the challange.
My plan is to take the ferry to Northern Spain, ride on down to the south then cross over to Morocco.
I have a basic route planned - to spend around 7/8 nights touring the High Atlas (hopefully some off road 'pistes?') and some of the tourists bits as well, some hotels, some camping, then bash on back up to Northern Spain - ferry home.
Anyone interesed in joining me? - please either reply or send a private mail.
Am an experienced steady rider but with a sense of adventure (need a challange!).

Hi Jeff, your time & route sounds interesting - I live close by so if you fancy meeting up for a run and discussing the trip PM back ok? cheers,

Hi, I don't appear to be able to send PM's?
My email address is [email protected]
I am meeting 'another' face on Sunday at the Ace Cafe at 12noon - why not come along? I am in Hook, Hants, we could meet and ride up together.
Reply to this or send an email (I'm out of the country for 2 days so may not be able to reply immediately). Hope to see you there.

Jeff, I've done morocco, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't do it again. I was debating on going back there next week. I don't whether you are a family man, but if you can disappear for Christmas and the new year I'm your man. I have always travelled alone but would like a change. I would go in May but i'm setting off on a round the world trip. Purhaps your interested in a piece of that! If your interested let me know. This is a public message in case anyone else is interested!
