Morocco: Dec. & Jan will I pack a tent?

I have camped in the Jebel Sahro in December in the past. But back then I was hardier.

If I'm only likely to use the tent in the south is it worth the extra weight?
(And if a Morocco is enduring a monsoon season...?)

It has been a wet year, whether that continues is anyones guess.

If you have an idea of where you intend to be each evening I would leave the tent at home, last week was freezing at night until south of the Atlas.

At the lattitude of Ouarzazate the sun sets at the end of December at 5:15pm local time and rises again at 7am. That's a long time to be in a tent in the dark.
