Hi all,
Might seem like a silly question but is it preferable to take Euros to Morocco as opposed to Sterling? I assume it is possible to change either into Dirhams?
Any advice appreciated - we are travelling through Melilla later this week.

Makes no difference, apart from if you had Yooros you can spend them on the Spanish side as well :nenau

PS when you find the Bureaux De Changes, don't do a 'sheep' thing and join the longest queue......it seems that people assume that the one that there are a couple of people standing at is the one that gives the best rate......they all give the same rate, so you might as well go to the empty one :blast

pps Euros are more widely accepted as cash money direct in Morocco that Sterling, so on balance, unless you have to change money twice and get charged for both, Euros can be more practical

Hi,there is no difference in using Euros or Sterling while in Morocco. There so many cash points where you can exchange them directly and also the office of exchange. There are places like in Marrakech where you can exchange your money into Dirhams with good rates.

Regards

The rate being offered in UK airport was scandalous, very easy to change in Morocco and you get a good rate.

Last time I was there, we thought we'd get some cheap cigs at the airport. So we drew enough Dirhams. Got to the airport and the fckers would not allow us to buy in dirjhams, they wanted euros. Got home with a bagful of paper! Try and find a bank in London that will change it back.....don't leave there with dirhams!

Several of us have just came back, I took sterling and euros, if you have euros and want to pay a hotel bill or bar bill,it was 1 euro
=10 dirhams.
When we stopped in Tetoun on the way in I changed sterling for Dirhams 12.56 to the pound.

Why change money twice

My opinion, euros for Spain
Sterling for Maroc, but change up in a bank in Maroc
