Morocco - like I said, it won't be easy

The 3 star Hotel de Osa at Cosgoya, halfway between Potes and the Fuente De in the Picos had been booked for us by my Spanish lady friend. It appeared a popular place as two other groups of British bikers were also there and is highly recommended :thumb

On the way back the others pressed on from Erfoud to Azrou. I was suffering from an abcess under a tooth, which was sorted with my leatherman knife and some oil of cloves, feckin ouch. :(

So two of us stopped as scheduled in Midelt, and although when booking, the Hotel Kasbah Asmaa 3km south of town was full, we turned up and got the whole of a turret to ourselves. :clap
Last time I stayed there was a high class wedding reception with musicians and dancing girls etc :)

It's a popular stop over with many travellers and we met a couple of GS'ers from the UK there.

In Marrakech a great place to stay is the Riad Hotel Fantasia. It's five minutes walk from the medina and has underground secure parking :thumb

One day though :bounce1

Well actually this Sunday! after reading the great reports from Steptoe's and Tim's trips we're finally off on Sunday, on a 3 week round trip and 12 days in Morocco.

In Tafroute the first night was in the scruffy Hotel Tafroute, we moved into the Les Amandiers complete with pool, which only ian used for the second night.

Cascades d'Ouzoud, the Hotel de France with great views from the terrace

In Tinerhir I like the Hotel Tombouktou but that was full, and we were booked into the four star hotel I think was called Hotel Saghro.

Talouine a reasonable place whose name I forget east out of town on the left just before the garage which marks the beginning of the piste to Foum Zguid in scott's book.

Zagora, the fantastic Fubule du Draa with pool, palms and welcomed airconditioning. :thumb

It seemed some wanted 4 star western type hotels all the way, I mean what's wrong with this...

Great photo's :thumb

Look's alot harder than the route i took on my bike :mmmm
Very similar to the route i followed in my Defender :yikes

Only two of us did all the off road sections, the others did up to perhaps half. There's generally a tarmac option of getting from A to B if it gets a bit too much, but the intention of this trip which I made clear beforehand was to ride off tarmac where possible, isn't that why we have a GS, perhaps not :nenau

I guess that's the problem of only "knowing" somebody by how they post on the internet

Absolutely. And a big thank you for your PM Mark :thumb

I trained for months before leaving with Tim, last time, in the GYM three times a week and OFFROADING every weekend and some weekdays.

If only so that I was not in holdenss to him or anybody else by holding up the trip.

I also can pride myself of not falling off on the piste, and try not to whenever offroad, just by taking it easy.

I am still in training for any event such as this, and life, so get fit and train OFFROAD, that doesn`t mean ONE WEEKEND at THE BMW OFFROAD COURSE.

OFF ROADING is DANGEROUS we are grown up people, you have to look after yourself in the end, to help others.

Well it's all got a bit personal on several fronts, so I'll stick at what I do best, and that's get GS's into great places :dabone

I'd like to go also, but don't have complete faith in my skills as an off rider :o

So I'll probably go with a "professionally" organised group, then I won't worry about impinging on someone elses holiday.
