Portsmouth to Bilbao the easy way. A nice slow start on the boat before the action starts. Bilbao to Algeciras in one day with a late start on the road having looked at the Guggenheim museum building first.
Algeciras to Fez via Ceuta with the usual border crap. Having stayed in the Fez Ibis drove down to Khenifra then East through Cedar woods with monkeys
and up on into the mountains via tracks.
Ran into snow at 6000 feet and then at 7200 feet the track was fully blocked with snow. We decided that it was too late to turn back and at 5.30 pm decided to pitch camp by the snow. Very isolated and spooky high mountain valley.
Had a funny day at Erg. Having spent the night at an Oasis we were stopped and looking at a stray white camel as you do, when this long haired guy pulls up and started a conversation.
And up to Marrakech and then over the Riff. We had a bad ride upto the North coast. First blockades in the towns and petrol was starting to run short. We got all the last petrol before Steptoe and his motley crew went back. It rained and the road on the the Riff was like an ice rink, with four cars written off as we drove back to Ceuta
Over the water and back into bandit country, and took a ride round to Gib for a bit of monkey business.
