Hi Has anybody rode the N17 from Oujda to Figuig and then on to Ar-rachida ? Is there accomodation and fuel on the way? Is there accomodation at Bouaria? Any other advice welcome, sights etc.

Did the part from Tendrara to Bourfa (I came riding over the Platteau du Rekkam), there's a fuel station in Tendrara. Road itself is good, fast and boring as hell.

In Bouarfa is one hotel, stayed in the conference room on my Thermarest since the hotel was fully booked. And it was storming outside.

From Bouarfa towards Errachidia, it's a long stretch of mostly boring road, allthuogh the scenery can be nice to watch. If I'm correct, you're gonna pass one village, there you can find fuel, but it's in 10l jugs. And double the normal price rates.

Make sure to fuel up in Bourfa (coming from the north you can fuel up even before the city) and Errachidia, or if taking to the left, the Gorge du Ziz shouldn't be a problem.

Grtz, Philip!

I've done the top, the bottom and some of the middle of that route. The hilly section to the north is pleasant. Otherwise the central section is boring. Several hotels in Bouarfa (can't remember Tendara). I really liked Figuig and there's now two hotels there, the second one overlooking the palmerie is the better. Nice ride to the frontier with Algeria.

Some photos of the area here.

Heading west from Figuig I cut across the 'short cut' to Mengoub--really interesting old railway station there (see R24 on above link). The area north of Boudnib is interesting, see R21.

Thanks guys, looks like we will miss out the north east and head straight down again. regards
