My GSA is having a rear wheel changed under warranty at Astles, would you believe they don't come with a new tyre:augie So I thought it was a good time to change the pair as they are squared of and worn. I was gonna take a new one along for the back aqs theyd have to move the old one so it would actually save em some time. SO I asked how much to change the front if I bought along a new one £45.00 he replied !! :blast:blast

Needless to say Im getting a new pair fitted elsewhere this weekend and they can now have the hassle of swapping instead of just fitting a tyre!!:beerjug:

If they're not supplying the tyre I guess they're going to sting you....seems a bit harsh though, a bit of goodwill goes a long way.

Astles Grimsby is a BMW car dealership with moto section stuck on the end. The problem is that it's run like a car dealership and what you might expect at Rainbow just doesn't happen at Astles.

I had a duff headlight bulb on my RT a while back and they asked if I'd like it changed whilst I was in the showroom. Thanks I said.

Came back with a bill for £30!!! for the bulb and fitting!

As you'd expect, not going back.

BOUGHT MY GSA

from Astle's, found them to be helpful, polite and good to deal with.Took the GSA in or a service, I asked for the price before going and thats exactly what I paid.I always ask the cost before asking for any work to be done.

Went down with my wife to look at the new G650GS for her, they spent ages showing us differnt bikes, giving us advice and coffee even though we told them we would not be buying anything, they even offered discounts on clothing ect. I have found the service to be much better than Jefferies and I have always been treated as a person and not just another sale, just my 2 pence worth.

I have to agree with you Neil. I bought my bike from AStles last December and they couldnt have been more helpful. OK so they were after my money, but the service was excellent and they even knocked £30 off a pair of boots for me. Rainbow on the other hand seemed initially keen for my business a couple of months earlier. I went over to Rotherham on the recommendation of a friend. I was interested in the F800ST so they gave me one to try for an hour or so. On getting back to the showroom I explained I was leaving the forces soon and would be wanting to change my bike pretty quickly. I couldnt have made it plainer that I really was interested in buying from them as they seemed like a professional outfit and the guy i dealt with was polite, non-pushy and knew his stuff. He told me they were expecting a bike in shortly that would be perfect for my needs so i gave him my details and waited. And waited. And waited. After a couple of months I passed Astles one day, dropped in and bought an R1200GS from them instead. Im pleased that business was so brisk at Rainbow that they felt no need to chase up potential customers and having seen glowing reviews of customer service from them i can only conclude I slipped through the net.

This was an observation on the costs they have to charge, I know they are not tyre specialists and have huge overheads. I was kinda tongue in cheek. They are replacing subframe and rear wheel on my bike as we speak. The nice salesman swapped the loan GS800 they initially gave me, for his own GSA so I could still have panniers. Only problem is mines an 09 this is the new one......temptation!
