off back over the col de vars today to try and find a bridge that my sister mentioned i should try and see. the official name and info.

we move on from guillestre today to peisey a little village just south of bourg saint maurice going via the col de izoard briancon the galebria valloir mont cenis and the route de liseran, we would stop for dinner on mont cenis.

we arrived at our hotel in peisey and what a really nice place, a small quaint village with loads of character, and the hotel was bang on we had booked a double room, but because they were quiet they gave us a family room at no extra cost. the owners both spoke good english and were very friendly and helpfull and the husband was a great cheff, apparently he used to work with that foul mouthed cheff gordon ramsey.

The village had some of the prettiest flower baskets and arrangements i had seen including one that had an almost black flower amongst it.

first full day at peisey we decided to take a run out to annecy going via a great little route to beaufort called the cormete de roselend, stopping in beaufort to take a few pics and drink copious amounts of water as it was hot.

and then on to annecy that i have to say wasnt my cup of tea, dont get me wrong it was very nice but just to busy and was like restaurant-cafe city. just to many people in one place and very hot.

we start today with a quick trip up to Notre Dame des Vernettes its a little church situated at the end of a dirt track about 4 mile away from piesey, its at the end of a rough dirt track about 2 mile long, and at an altitude of 1800m, we opted to ride all the way from the bottom,and it wasnt to bad, the church itself was closed when we got there a bit of poor planning on our part as we didnt realise it didnt open till mid day we took a few pics from outside and i have added a few images from the net of the inside its stunning. frome here we had a run to the col de madelaine.

we move on from peisey to colmar today and this would be our last day in the alps, and the longest day on the bike. we were to get to colmar via the petit st bernard the grand st bernard all the way across switzerland from martigney to basel then mulhouse and finally colmar. the first leg of the journey to martigney was hampered by road works just after the petite st bernard, they were re surfacing and putting barriers up at the edge of the road and also due to the fact i had no rear pads left and they were running metal to metal, so a quick clamp of the rear flexi pipe and we were on the move again.

arrived in colmar at around 6pm managed to find a bike shop just around the corner from the hotel they had pads in stock luckily, it took me 15 minutes to fit them and all was good,safe and sound for our 4 days in colmar, and the weather was still hot.
