My right hand man dug out my GS yesterday and headed off for it's MOT test plus a planned pair of tyres.

Hardly got half way when the dashboard EWS light show began and he came to a standstill. Display couldn't decide whether bike was in gear or not. Eventually did restart, but he still had to push the last few yards to the bike shop.

With new battery in place, the upset gear indicator plus right combination of side stand switch and clutch all confused the hell out of the non-Bumwee bike shop boys as they couldn't get it started.

Anyway, it was eventually started and a short run saw the display return to normal after several phone calls and discussions about fitting the spare EWS.

It's an 06 bike with low miles but my guess is that as it spent some time this winter NOT connected to the Optimate I got what was coming.

Lesson learned the hard way. With exhaust baffle removed and tyres lightly scrubbed, we're now ready for summer.

There will be a Summer won't there?
