Just a quick laugh and heads up for you oilheaders...😁 My 11GS was in for the test yesterday and annoyingly the high beam must have failed in the way in...😆 But also the tester picked up the front Tele ball joint boot was split... Well call me stupid but after 100k + miles on oilheads and many MOTs I'd forgotten it had one...🤣👍 No probs with the ball joint just the deteriorated boot... So add it to you twat list of stupid fail checks...
I wasn't with the bike so bulbs are the easy fix but the boot is not an on site fix...

Boot was £3.99 on eBay last time I needed one…

The bolt is also a bit of a beast to undo, if I remember right. Tightened to a serious torque figure so heat and a big bar to undo it. Then it needs a modified socket to tighten it whilst holding the inner Allen head in place. I think I took an angle grinder to a long socket of the appropriate size.

Thanks...👍 I changed a ball joint over 15 years ago but that was previous crash damage... Never had a prob but sure as shit it'll be checked in future...😆

Really, changing the boot is usually a piece of piss ??

I agree, but the spec sheet shows it’s torqued at 130Nm and you have to unbolt and lift the telelever out of the way to replace it… Or am I wrong?

Undid the bolt and the ball joint was loose so all good... Either wheel out or Tele upski to get a good look...
