Motech engine bars and Torx sockets

Just about to fit some SW Motech engine bars.

As I've just acquired the 1200GS I need to add a set of Torx sockets to my toolbox. Before I go and order a set of Torx bits, can anyone advise what sizes I need for the Motech fitting, then I can ensure they are included.

I managed to fit the bars with the bits in the bike's toolkit (Plus my own Allen keys and Ring spanners)

Top-Tip, don't do what I did and get it all together having forgotten to put some of the spacers in, particularly the little jobbies by the engine, just above the cylinder... Took me an extra 30 minutes to take it apart and put them in.

Thanks Lee. I must be missing a piece out of the toolkit. I assume that the rear mount of the engine bars is where the frame tube comes forward and boilts to the engine? This has a rather large torq headed bolt and the biggest in the bike's toolkit (the T50) was too small. So I don't know if that's a T55, T60, T70 etc that I need to get.

Engine bars now fitted. The job took about an hour made up of:-

20 minutes sorting & laying out all the bits to make sure I understood exactly what went where.

20 minutes to fit everything loosely and prove that I had understood what went where and that the bars fitted OK

20 mins to take it all apart, locktite the threads, reassemble loosely, tighten everything up.

The bars are well made, and the silver colour matches well to the frame.

For anyone else fitting a set I'd suggest the following:-

1) Fit the bottom plate

2) Fit the side bars by putting the small 6mm top bolts in place first, then the big hefty rear bolt, and lastly the bolt to the bottom plate. (The bars will never be a 100% exact fit and will require a tad of "flexing" to align the holes. Hence do the top bolt first, as more purchase can be obtained around the lower rear bolt mounting to get it into place.)

3) Fit the top cross piece.

4) Tighten eveything up.
