Changed my boxes over from last bike it was fine with the standard exhaust but have an aftermarket exhaust on 2nd,which is burning the powdercoat one side also problems mounting a toolbox the other so decided thats it its out with hacksaw & modify ;)

Bit late (10.40 :green gri ) to sand off old welds flat but least Im part way there,Im going to fabricate a connecting bar lower down.

If Motech had copied BMW's Touratech rack (with welded lugs rather than welded tube) you'd have simply needed a cross tube that drops down & across rather than going straight across.
What do you plan for your new cross bar? Welds or P clips?

Not 100% sure yet can use the quick release parts (its lockable but designed to come off easily twistoff T bolts) or weld/bolt a flat bar on ?

Flat bar across the bike will flap so a bent tube may be best. You could plug the ends & thread M6. Spacer ferrules welded into side plates so the side tubes don't get crushed.
Probably less work than making lugs and welding on.

The holes already there for the cases lugs will suffice as mounting points for it,will see in the morning if its raining I'll work on me bike ;)

Good job, just make sure that the box is clear of the tyre when the suspension compresses .... that's what caught me out the first time that box was fitted ( my fault that time by mounting it incorrectly ) :thumb

I decided to reuse what I already had why reinvent if I can simply reposition :thumb
Crap pics I know but couldnt be arsed, will have to get them powder coated now.
