Moto Coupe Legend, Dijon

Hi Guys,
Anybody Been to the Moto Coupe Legend races in Dijon? I've heard they are really relaxed and fun in the French way, and have decided to go and see for myself this year. I've been to France a good few times on various bikes, but I would be grateful for any pointers about the event. I will probably take a tent so I can soak up as much atmosphere as possible!

I plan on taking a trip to Dijon based around the Coupes Moto Legende (www.coupes-moto-legende.fr) at the end of May. I intend to join some friends who are planning a 2009 trip for their club.

I have been asked to “help” with the planning – ie: finding hotels, sampling restaurants, checking wine lists, finding the best local motorcycling roads etc. (Tough job – but someone’s got to do it).

i've been twice, it's a fantastic event if you like old bikes

cheap to get in, about €18 for a weekend ticket on the gate IIRC, never booked in advance. if you have a pre 78 bike you can ride it on the circuit in year/cc groups, but you need a different ticket & these sell out so need to be booked in advance.

unless you really like roughing it, DON"T CAMP, at least not on the field provided outside the circuit, it's part of the bike park with no facilities at all. if you have the riding ticket, you can camp inside which is a bit better. it has rained both times i've been. it's a rainy period in a rainy area. 2005 year was like a glastonbury/somme re enactment in places

i know a nice little hotel in dijon (about 10 minutes ride) with secure parking, not that it seems you need it in dijon. they don't speak english though, so use your best franglais

Thanks fellas for the information. I think I might take your advice Cookie and avoid the camping, especially if there is a probability of rain. I don't mind either, but they don't mix too well. The Hotel looks just the ticket!
I always prefer to stay off the autoroutes, unless I'm in a hurry, because there is so much more to see, so any suggestions for an interesting route would be appeciated John.Thanks again, see you in Dijon in May!

It's a great event.

Very relaxed and social.

Definitely don't camp.

er, forgot all about it

edit: just uploaded two files. they are somewhat cluttered with waypoints + there are a couple of small mistakes in the route that i have found, having done the route a few times. just small deviations to waypoints slightly off route IIRC. i never bothered to fix them.

Im down in Dijon around end of May. I will be having a look at this event. I stay in the B&B chain of motels. Dijon north. 35 Euros per night. Decent breakfast for 5 Euros

Thanks Cookie, I have booked the Montigny Hotel you recommended. Apparently they still have room, but its booking fast. They are expecting 60,000 for the races so Dijon should be alive to the sound of motorcycles.

I've not been since it was at Montlhery. The bikes running on the old banked circuit was quite amazing.

A bit upset that I couldn't go out as my GT750 was a year too young for the insurers! Not old enough!
