Your Triumph would be perfect Tim :thumb2

I have this arriving next week and if I feel the bike is up to the job I will bimble it across France and through the mountains to the rally.

Hate to say this but mine had a propensity to 'sieze' overheat the back cylinder  be careful and good luck. (usually a stop and a fag freed it) :clap

Probablys ........

If Bry's not arranging a run i might just ride down , that ferrys painfull .... :friday

+1... i really enjoy the ride down.... Much better then sitting on the boat !

I really fancy this BUT I only have one week leave left and my shifts cover both week ends and I could only get one of them off
The mrs wanted a week away but she has run out of leave :augie
Which leaves me a pass for a week away :JB
But I could only go 3rd to 9th or 30 th till 6th
What would be the best to get most from the event ??
Is it best to tale the old airhead to fit in better.

I plan to leave Portsmouth to Caen overnight on the 3rd returning on the 9th.... Riding both ways

What bike you taking twizzle ??
Did think I might ride down and ferry back or visa versa

still undecided........ the Harley will be an "adventure" for sure.... 16 years old 90k on the clock and a little bit knackered!

The GS will be more comfortable and get me there and back quickly....

Weather will be an influence....The GS better at motorway speeds in the rain!

Heart says Harley

Head says GS......

Same here heart says airhead

head says oilhead
also because the airhead could do with new tyres before hand :blast
just looked at ferry down, ride back because I will be coming off a night shift wednesday morning :eek
no cabins left only 4 berthers :blast to santander on wednesday 3rd

In an attempt to save some money and still be able to go, I think I'm going to change my plans a bit.

I reckon I am still going to go over on Sun 30th from Plymouth, but then stay in the Picos Monday to Friday riding some trails and then move to Santander for two nights, take in the rally and catch the boat back to Portsmouth on the Monday.

This saves me two nights hotels, alot of petrol going over to the Pyrenees and means I can explore the Picos area a bit more.

Well thats todays plan anyway.

sIDECAR outfit for me taking a sickie off work, October summer cold,

It would be nice to meet up with some others and have a meal and a few beers somewhere on the seafront on Saturday evening
We'll have to try and sort something out nearer the time.

Oh FFS, I would like to do the Colombres rally and I would like to do it on a classic.

I getting half tempted to forget the idea of 2012, save my money, flog this bike sooner rather than later, get something else and have a good couple of weeks riding down and back in 2013.

Looks like there might be a split in the Moto Piston Club, I've just had an email re a classic rally in Colombres in October :nenau

Apparently not a split, looks like an attempt to cash in on the MotoPiston club's event. I've just had this email from the MP organisers.

WARNING NOTE FROM MC PISTON

Many of our friends and colleagues have recently received some information about an event to be held in Colombres (Asturias, Spain) during October 2012. We have received some phone calls regarding this and we want to state the following:

The mentioned event is not organized by MC Piston nor by any of their members, who have developped all these previous motorcycle activities along the years with lots of love, hard work, care and experience. The XXV MC Piston International Rally will be held from October 1st to 7th in “El Sardinero” (Santander, beautiful town in Northern Spain) in the same style as previous years with races, motojumble, the famous “5,000 curves” challenge and many other novelties (please visit our web www.mcpiston.com).

We fully understand that people from outside motorcycle world want to organise such events to get profit in an economical depressed area in our current crisis times. But, obviously, we don´t trust nor support it.

We want to thank all our motorcycling friends in advance for their understanding and support, as we are organising this classic motorcycle celebration, which reaches the age of 25. Hope to see you all in October!
