Moto Piston Rally Picos October 2011

I'll go with the flow on this one, looks great :thumb2

Booked in at Casa Gustavo :thumb2:thumb2
Andy (Number 6) will be good to see you again :bounce1
Undecided which way to come down, have to be in the right mood for a 24 hour ferry crossing so might bike it down through France.

It will be good to meet you Allan :thumb2

This is gearing up to be a cracking little trip :clap

It certainly is :thumb2

Seriously tempted :drool

Don't hang about, you 've got an old clunker or 2.... errrm vintage bike that qualifies don't you :augie

Anyone got experience of this place?

Who else is going on the Wed ferry?

See Johnny's post below it looks stunning, and you're welcome to dine with us in the evenings or we could get cabs to a nearby town/village/bar and have a drink together :nenau

Brilliant hotel and much famed for it's cuisine

Rooms are clean, well appointed and comfy

The log fire will be lit in Oct too

It's about 10 miles from us and about 30 miles from the rally @ Colombres

Looks stunning :thumb2

it's all public roads. you can ride it anytime you like.

we were some of those modern bikes last year, and there wasn't that much new kit on the roads that i remember. dunno how we could have spoiled it for anyone though? :nenau

have to say, i did see some old boy on a douglas shake his fist at one of or lot for no reason as he was overtaken. i wish i could remember who it was.

I remember the guy on the Douglas, he seemed a little upset :nenau

This sounds like it could be fun. I'm worried about altitude sickness though. Is it dangerous riding so high?

If you're not used to riding in Mountains it could be considered as dangerous but take comfort in the fact that we recce'd most of this year's likely routes last year...........magnum force eh? There's something familiar about that name ;)

Thanks for the welcome, Steve. Looking forward to meeting you and some other "names" off here - always fascinating to put faces to forum names :D

Booked the Wednesday boat from Portsmouth to Santander, bit of a no brainer really when you weigh up the options.

Quite envious of the guys with classic bikes

I really fancy riding the 5000 curves route on a day when the classic bikes aren't on it.

yes, they make the place look so untidy cluttering up the verges in pools of oil and clouds of smoke :P

Booked into Hotel del Oso for the 6/7/8/9th. I am not sure what M/C I will take but hopefully it will be a Norton Commando :beerjug:

i do like norton commandos. preferably in roadster trim :thumb2

It's a well used bike and there is a bit of clanging coming from somewhere at 1500rpm but I will give it a good overhaul before the rally :)

See You in the bar I expect.

Definatley, hope you decide on taking the Sunbeam, ime considering trying to aquire a pre 1980 bike for the trip, try and get into the spirit of the rally, the 5000 curves looks awesome:eek:
