Moto Piston Rally Picos October 2011

Devon, have you decided to move from the origional accomodation in the Picos to that provided in Santander?

Yes. We are there for the rally mostly and want to be in the thick of it, not 50 miles away.

How many others have moved accomodation? i am currently still booked into my origional accomodation but i would be interested to hear how many others have changed plans.
I must say the rally is what ime going for but the Picos is a lovely place to stay, so am a bit undecided:blast,

Our group of 8 is still booked in at la Pisa.
Nobody wanted to stay in Santander, so full participation in the rally got the boot.

Shouldn't you still be sleeping.............:D

It is Glastonbury, have last night's excesses worn off already:augie

So, anyway. Where were we.

Had a discussion today with my "dealer" (i'm currently addicted to old "barge" like cruisers, it might wear off) and i may have a lovely old guzzi california within a short period of time.
Ideal for this type of trip.
So to save me wading through pages of "stuff", which hotel do i need to book if i'm after a hangover.

I'll be riding all the way as i enjoy adventure, and i could well be guaranteed some riding a 32 year old guzzi. :D

You're not welcome, piss off :hide

Depends how "involved" you want to be with the Rally and whether you want to be a full participant or just make it up as you go, the route of 5000 curves for instance is a 300 mile day, factor in the hour or so each way from our digs to the event's start and finish in Santander and it becomes a really busy day!
Cookie and Darkhorse are staying in our group and they are both taking old bikes I'm not sure what level of participation they are taking, perhaps one of them will respond to the thread, or you could call in and ask cookie when you pick up the Guzzi :D

We re-booked last year's accomodation because it was so good and the location is great, we could have cancelled and stayed in Santander instead but weighing up the options we chose not to;)

Posts relevant to you (or not) 1, 37, 84, 87 and maybe 93 and 123

I'll prefer "making it up as i go", i don't want to be held to an event agenda .

Yes, sounds ideal - Where do i book :D

Our place is fully booked, but some have a twin room on single occupancy so you may be able to share

My single occupancy twin looks like it will be full now that Gerry has announced his return to biking and his intention to join us, if it doesn't work out at La Pisa, nearby accomodation from post #1

If booking these please mention Claire from LaPisa.........

Posada de Aniezo (same village as La Pisa) Their email is;
[email protected]
and their website is www.posadadeaniezo.com/index.html

If req'd you can eat with us at La Pisa :thumb2

There is also Casa Gustavo at;
www.picos-accommodation.co.uk
Lisa at Casa Gustavo has a 2 bed apartment also in our village and she has a small guesthouse which is about a 10 minute drive away.

Its bit further - about a 20 minute drive, but I can highly recommend apartments in Tudes. Tony Bastian is the owner. There is a lovely bar in their village too.

Get intouch with Bri , he might have a place left .......... :bounce1

Stopping in Santander near the Bars and it's a quick run to the rally or mountains or bars :D do as you want really , some will ride all day , some will drink all day you never far from the hotel and a cold one ... :beerjug:

There's plenty of tarmac and off road sections that join up passes and bars ... :friday

Just make it up as you go along then you can't get it wrong ........ :Motomartin

Gerry is now confirmed as attending, we are staying a couple of days longer and are getting the return ferry from Santander to Plymouth on Weds 12th departing Santander at 21.00 so we get 3 more full days, we may head towards the Pyrenees and complete some "unfinished business" from last year namely; Col du Tourmalet etc. :augie

Good news about Gerry, thats the boat JB and I are on although I still may come back up through France if the forecast is good and the mood takes me. The only thing that may throw a spanner in the works for me is I have an interview today and the start date is listed as the 1st October, however it would be a minor miracle if I get offered a job before I leave this one and even if the unlikely happens they may honour prebooked stuff and delay the start dates.
