Motobatt mb51814

Recently purchased r1150gs is fitted with a fairly new Motobatt MB 51814 (bill from last summer), this is the recommended battery but it appears too large and you can clearly see where its casing has been rubbing on the inside of the tank.

Swapped it for an Odyssey I have in the garage which is nominally the same size yet has plenty of clearance, the Motobatt is definitely wider and slightly taller by 5 or 6 mm.

Anybody else had this issue ?

I seem to recall Motobatts came with a detachable spacer to aid with a correct fit didn’t they ? I’m sure I had one once that did.

Had them on other Motobatt batteries but there isn't one fitted on this one, it is just physically slightly too big
