On your way back up from Millau you could call at Orsdour-sur-Glane which I've heard is well worth a visit.

I hope to get to visit this summer myself all being well.

We went a couple of years ago, had a great weeekend but make sure you take your original reg doc (v5) cause you'll need it to get out of the bike park.
Did make for a bit of a slow exit from the circuit (bout half an hour). They give you a sticker on the way in, 1 half on the bike one half you keep with you (the numbers match) don' loose it! Worth the trip nice circuit. :aidan

2nd That

2nd what MURGY12 just said. Absolutely mental on race day to get into the bike park and then to get out is double mental, best to hang around after the race and see as much post race action as you can. Weather was mid 20's that time last year and the roads were great.

Very envious indeed.......are you's camping or BnBing it?

Plus 1 re hanging around after. The Gs overheated in the jam to get out a few years back.

10 of us going, it'll be my 11th time at le mans, I'm still looking forward to it so it must be good !!!
We try to alter the route each year, previosly done what your planning & went to the milau bridge. Stayed at chateau de cresseils (something like that) we could see the bridge from our balcony, deffo stay there again next time I'm down that way. Also done oradour sur glane, well worth the visit.
This year we're going Portsmouth - Caen on the Thursday, hilmans bunker, American cemetery & mont saint michel on Friday arriving at the circuit Friday evening.
As for camping we've always been quite lucky and been able to stay in someones garden opposite the circuit. Swimming pool, coffee & croissants in a morning & a bit more secure at night. The campsites there are nuts, although a lot quieter now than it used to be, security stop vans on their way in & confiscate any engines they have in the back. What used to happen is the engines would be set up in a frame with a megaphone for the exhaust, the engine would run constantly, oil poured into the air intake producing clouds of smoke, if the engine hadn't died by Saturday night / Sunday morning somebody would take an axe to it until in died.
The other thing you want to try & do is catch the saturday evening entertainment, stunt show with a jet engined car !!! And then an open air concert, all included in your ticket price. Talking of tickets have you booked any ???

We'll pack up after the race & head back getting home sometime on the Monday.

Nice, hillman bunker is great, there is a wee memorial for the suffolk reg just on up the road over the hill at the entrance to a lane way on the left:beerjug:ps,this is all close to Pegasus bridge

The Other thing I want to see but never found are the cliff tops where the craters left by the bombs are. I remember an orange county chopper special when they came to Europe & when they went to France they visited these cliff tops. Anyone any ideas where this was ?

Ticket wise we always go for the privilege grandstand, they include a pitlane walk on the Saturday afternoon.

Looks like that could be the place merv. Anywhere else worth a look around that area ?
