just returned from a 500 mile tour no issues. Couple of days later went to start the bike. Motor spins but will not start. Assumed it was the dreaded fuel pump controller so bypassed it. Now the pump wines loudly when b4 no noise at all. Still the bike will not start. Any ideas much appreciated

with the fuel pump controller in circuit it will run the pump for a couple of seconds when the ignition is switched on then run the pump when the starter button is pressed.
the pump will run all the time if the controller is by passed.
first thing take out the T25 screw and pull out one of the injectors, crank the motor and see if it is spraying fuel.

Have you the connections on the battery correctly and is the pump running in reverse?
nothing has changed on the bike from previous running state. The noisy pump when using the bypass lead is a new 'feature'. Having used the lead some time ago without the noise.
Assuming the fuel pump control unit is still ok and have no reason to assume otherwise, it will not start with either power supply method.

Might be a silly question, but is there any fuel in the tank?
Is it the fuel strip u/s not a pump fault?

Try spraying some brake cleaner or easy start in through the air filter intake when cranking. If it fires up or splutters a bit then you will know it's fuel related at least.
When my fuel pump was packing up I did this to determine if it was electrical or not.
I needed a fuel pump and controller in the end.

problem appeared to be a blocked or jammed union on the fuel pump housing. Where the injector feed pipe attaches to. Took tank off and removed pump all seemed ok but fuel would not come out of the union element. Pushed it in with a screw driver and hey presto now works ok. Hopefully this has resolved the issue.
The quick disconnect fittings on the fuel pump outlet and the fuel return pipe are self sealing on disconnection.
