Motorbycycling Chap in Istanbul

Anyone coming here end June/beginning July might be interested in two events.

First, end June, a mass ride out from Istanbul to Marmaris in what is becoming a yearly event. The whole town of Marmaris will be taken over by bikers from all over the country, with games such as 'Who can drink the most before dying' and 'Tourists are 10 points, locals 5'.

Second, the EMOK (Enduro Motorcycle Club - http://www.emok.org) camp in central Turkey, 30th June - 1st July. A yearly event, at which bikers from all over the country descend upon a startled and rather perplexed populace of a small town. So far I am the only foreigner that goes but all are welcome. Safety is not an issue as I ride with a bunch of doctors. There's a Cardiologist to help with the heart attacks derived from local drivers, a Neurologist to help with the headaches you get from local drivers, an Opthalmologist to help understand the driving of locals, a Psychiatrist to help deal the the after effects of local drivers ..... oh, you get the idea.

That's it really.

Nice one ex-pat, local help/knowledge always good to have, what sort of event is the enduro, in line with this site I now expect ridicule!!! But a short explanation will do! One query, do you ride with a gynaecologist, podiatrist, feminist or epidemiologist too? And lastly, can you get ice cold Guinness in Turky? Kind regards Dusan

It's not really an enduro event, it's a camping weekend organised by an enduro bike club. Some of their guys do an off-road display during the weekend but that's only for show and not participation. It's basically an opportunity for bikers to get together and party.

I think there are a couple of bars that serve Guinness. I can't stand the stuff so I don't know they are, can easily find out though.
