Motorcycle Journey To the Alps & Back

Hmm, I think My six day blitz might be a tall order

Norwich to Baden First day.

Baden to Stubai second day via The 500

A pop over to the Stelvio on the next day and back

Then the Kim falls plus the Glos pass and back

Head to Koblenz via the side of the river, B9 stay over night

Home next day.

Never heard of either the Kim falls or the Glos pass, are they any good?

John

Sorry mate, lazy typing Krimmi falls and Grossglockner

It's me who should say sorry! Just being my usual sarcastic bastard self. But as I always say we all have to do what we are best at.

Enjoy your trip and if you ever make it to our area pop in for a beer

No worries lol, I'm just to tired to notice, I think the first day is a biggy but there you go.

Hi all, have planned the following trip for this July having read previous post, various bike mags and Motorcycle Journeys Through the Alps and Corsica by John Hermann (highly recommend).

The plan is as folllows and I would appreciate any comments / advice re the following route.

Day 1 hull to Rotterdam

Day 2 Rott to Baden Baden
381 miles, 6hrs 50 min
Rotterdam
Antwerpen
Malmedy (Spa)
Bitche (France)
Lemberg
Goetzenbruck
Wimmenau
Lixhausen
Seebach

This is more or less my usual route and although it's a long first day it gets you into the Black Forest for day 2 which as well as being a good route is worth the effort.

Get rid of some kms on the motorways down to Antwerp and Liege and then you start smiling as you take the A27/E42 into a fast flowing road in the Ardennes with the option to call into the Spa F1 circuit.

Come off this road onto the E421 which becomes the border between Germany and Luxembourg on the Moselle river. A lovely part of the route with plenty of places to stop for refreshments. Refresh your bike in Luxembourg with cheap unleaded :thumb

Now time to get rid of some more kms as you drop onto the motorway above Trier and head off down the E422. Jump onto the 8 which becomes the 10 near Pirmasens and you are now in Pfalzerwald, another scenic area in Germany bordering France.

Drop off onto the 427 through Dahn, pop through Wissembourg and one last stretch of motorway on the A35 before crossing the impressive river Rhein and into Baden Baden.

With a few reasonable stops you should arrive 6-7pm, time for the three S's and out for grub and beer with the knowledge that tomorrow starts with the B500 :D

Some great views of the Krimml falls on the Gerlos pass.

5th highest waterfall in the world :augie
