Nearby routes now order by proximity to device (i.e. nearest first) some small improvements also added in the next version to be submitted very shortly to Apple.

Now with over 500 UK motorcycle routes and over 4000 route reviews.

Is it only UK routes or do you cover routes in Ireland and mainland Europe as well?

Hi Barry,

The App has the same number of routes as the site www.BestBikingRoads.com

It covers (in theory) all regions, although as it contribution based, it is richer in some areas than others, for example UK has about 500 routes, but Ireland only about 10

France 250, Spain 150, Germany 110, to give you an idea.

This number is increasing over time as the user base grows (currently over 12,500 users)

Lots of improvements and new features/extensions in the pipeline.

Android version of this app just released, I'll post more info about it in a bit (probably on a separate thread) but for now, it's available here in the Android market App name 'Best Biking Roads'

Over 4500 route reviews, more than 500 routes in the UK alone.

The features that you can see in this verison of the Android App that are not currently supported in the iPhone App will be released in the iPhone version shortly (updates already submitted to Apple so should be about a week)

Thanks to those who provided feedback, the new requested features are:

Browse routes near to the device, map now shows your location on the map in relation to the route
Browse by location, click on the map and see which routes are near to any chosen location
Proximity and direction now shown in list. Garmin style 'nearby' arrow direction indicators to show quickly and readily if the route is in the direction you want to travel.

Over 400 new routes added in the last month alone, thanks to all those who have contributed.

JUST ADDED, Version 1.5 now released:

• INFO SCREEN NOW ALLOWS TO SWITCH BETWEEN MILES AND KILOMETRES.
• Each route now returns whether there are photos or on bike films via the link
• Over 2300 photos of great motorcycling roads
• Over 100 films of great motorcycling roads.
• GPX format files of each route can be downloaded directly
• Access to over 2000 route photos of motorcycle routes, added by the community.
• Share your routes with biker friends who have different devices.
• Incorrect routes can be deleted

Downloaded. Cool . Watched a video of a road on my iPhone. Typed in closest roads to me and it brought up one about 200km away? Anyway to switch to miles. We are anti-metric on distance and speed in the UK.

Those films are very cool aren't they

To change to miles from iPhone go to settings -> BBR -> prefer miles
(Android users click on the little 'i' on hte main app screen)

The routes near to you are shown in order of their proximity to you and the first 15 are shown, so it is possible that the 15th closest one to London is 200kms away, many should be a lot closer than that though.
