Hi there,
Uhm... It got a few flaws and so is massively overpriced for what it is, bit like your other GPS software, IIRC also had no trial version.
No ability to create a route from current location to the route itself.
Can't export to the route to do anything useful with the route.
Certainly your comments about export to navigation, etc are valid for the app but the website (which is actually free to use) has far more information and features than the book you refer to and the extension of navigation features are things which I am looking into for a future version. Obviously I need to try and strike a balance between price and features for the short term and I'm sorry to hear that you find it too expensive
A common misunderstanding seems to be that the app is a fully featured piece of navigation software, (and that's partly the fault of the way the App Store gives everything a category of navigation) the BBR App is supposed to be a discovery and community app, a fun way to find new places to ride
I also understand that some find it too expensive and 2.39 GBP but when comparing to the book, I would question why the book is 'good value' with the following points:
If we compare BBR to the book, we have:
Price:
Michelin Book : 16 Euros | BBR : 2.99 Euros
Coverage:
Michelin Book : France & Corsica | BBR Routes in 56 countries
Size:
Michelin : A5 size / Approx 500 Grams | BBR : Built in to mobile device
Upgrade cost:
Michelin Book : Updated yearly, new edition 16 Euros | BBR updated daily, free of charge
Mapping:
Michelin Book : Map images of routes, GPX and PDF available for 90 routes
BBR : Google maps printable images available of a routes,
Full GPX roadbooks of 240 complete trips, generated waypoints for over 3500 routes.
Images :
Michelin Book : Approximately 200 images of routes | BBR : Approx 2500 images of routes, over 150 films of bikes riding the routes
Translations:
Michelin Book : French | BBR : EN,FR,ES,DE (website) and PT,IT,PL,SE,NL for App
Obviously, you are free to buy what you like and criticise what you don't
but some appreciation for those trying to compete with large firms and bring in some money to keep the offering developing would be appreciated.
You can after all use the website for free (which survives only on donations and a lot of coding from my side), so it would be nice if you could try to be a bit more constructive when commenting about the offerings.
