Hi,
having owned bikes for about 3 years i have that eternal problems of getting the bike to and from the dealers/shops for services etc..

I idily would like a motorcycle trailer to move the present GS around,, especially since its just died and i am probably going to have to pay to have it collected..

I saw on these a while ago..

and have emailed the company to find out if the trailer with take the GS and what the costs are..

in the meantime, can anyone recommend any trailer makers/model particularly folding ones for hefting the GS about..

I only have limited storage space and so a folding or take apart would be good as well as a reasonable price.

Cheers rocks. ( current owner of dead GS.. booooo ! )..

The trailer in a bag..

I like the idea of a trailer in a bag,, though the bag looks big enough to fit me inside.. but sadly they are US based.. bit of a problem getting one over here.. shipping would be frieght and cost.. as well as tax..

Will ring around on monday and see what i can find. There has to be a good reasonable solution out there...preferably under £400..... ( i can hope cant i )..

The trailer in a bag and Visordown...

I doubt those guardless wheels would be legal in this country.

you could try on Visordown. I've seen a fair few there 2nd hand for from 100 quid upwards.

Cheers.

Cheers guys, i will have a look on visordown.. got a couple of places to ring.. they are all costly though.

So had a mad idea.. to look at building my own. I have a very friendly garage operater.. who is a genious welder and used to be a proffesional fabricator in the oil industry.. so going to discuss things with him and see what we can cook up..

Yeh i didnt spot the uncovered wheels.. and i have to say the last one has imense wheels.. looks very sturdy.

Cheers

John

My trailer is trailer tent chassis (any flat bed will do) with solid base so you can walk on it and uses a two bile grabs ( www.bikegrab.com ) to hold two GSs. It is low has a long ramp stowed on the trailer and having a solid base means I can step onto the trialer with the bikes

A bit big..

Hi Roger,
I have a 500KG capacity trailer,,already, one of the reasons why i would like a folding one, as space is a problem for me..

I am thinking of getting something similar to the front wheel support made up for my bike.. but my trailer is not long enough to fit the bike in... so have to come up with some way of managing the tail gate...

though if i had the space, i would go for something like yours.. i guess yours have braking as well being an old trailer tent..

dual purpose....

I use a Trelgo trailer which is a purpose built bike trailer that I have made a box for to take garden rubbish etc... I just remove the runners which also hold the wheel in place and bolt the box frame on.

You can buy the runners for the bike separately and addapt your present trailer if required.

HAve Fun

Nice..

Looks nice andy.. seems the designer thought about the design of that one.. has lots of tie down points which are wide apart to give good stability..

Sadly its a bit bulky for my available storage space..
I am currently chasing some prices on the folding onse, whilst also enquiring about the possibility of having one made for me for about £300 from my local garage guy.. he is an ex Oil industry fabricater.. and when i worked off shore.. these guys can seriously weld and build...

If i had the space i would consider one..

Was at Micheldever [ nr Winchester] getting tyres - they had a brochure for a trailer co. - said they do bike trailers of various sorts. No web site but nice brochure [sorry no scanner].

Trailertek..

Cheers notadrop.. they do have a website.. rang them to enquire as to thier single one..

Got a really crap attitude from them.. not interested in answering questions at all.. so wont be buying from them.. me thinks..

Strange how people dont realise how much customer relationships is important.. oh well..

Andy T,

Not wanting to tell you how to suck eggs, BUT those straps aren't man enough for the weight of your bike, and if you tie the back down on say the rear foot rest hangers instead of loosly overthe seat, it would be much more secure.

Trust me it's a horrible sight to see your bike falling off the trailer at 60mph on a bumpy road.

Andrew,

Andrew,
youv'e got me worried now. I'll check the breaking strain of the straps but I'm sure they were 500Kg which should be plenty as they are not actually taking that much wieght. The bulk of the weight is taken by the trailer through the central track.
Better safe than sorry though.

Thanks
AndyT:(
