Motorcycle touring for a virgin to the Emerald Isle

yeah but to the border south is zzzzzz

go west via a bit of north and its much nicer :D

ya didnae see the map jay did ya :pullface

You were up early :D
Nah - that was about one o'clock pm ;) Just need to avoid the Ring of Kerry - tourists daren't venture off the 'beaten track' so there's miles and miles of empty roads with the beautiful Kerry mountains for background to be explored... and then there's the Beara (no tour buses there :thumb2).

Cheers Dave

I'll have a root for it over next few days and if nothing turns up, I'll send you a PM

Stay away from Killarney and surrounding areas. Full of tourists and coaches filling up the lovely roads.

:aidan

??????????????? just did a long trip around west cork and south kerry the last two days and I haven't seen one coach ........ ........ those days are gone ....//////// ;;; the yanks don't do it anymore :eek

Lots of lovely riding routes out of Kilarney, and the whole SW coast is lovely too, but bearing in mind JB lives in N Yorks, I'd suggest the Northern coast from Donegal and around to Coleraine......You could call up Tuned and see if he'll come out to play :)

You can't go too far wrong over there though (as long as you don't mind 4 inches of gravel in the centre of all minor roads :blast ) :beerjug:
so with gravel in the middle of the roads you can experience offroading without gong offroad
Excellent.......

Connemara & Burren

google-ing
Connemara & the Burren, Mayo or West Clare; guess there are a good few pictures about it on this here site too.
there was a guy touring around Ireland recently,
round the coast
Have a few ideas for a few lanes and could create a trip from here:
moto route
and send you a linky.

otherwise space for a tent and tea/coffee available.

if your in the Sligo area head for Westport/connemara direction, leenane and take the boat trip up irelands only fjord, an amazing part of ireland with scenery to die for + some crackin pubs in westport, ive been there loads of times and have never tired of the place

Emerald Isle welcome committee

Hi if you are around Dublin I can suggest the best pubs and if you are going south towards Waterford I can suggest nice places to visit. Dunmore has a Bluegrass festival from 24 to 26 August. As it sponsored by the company that makes the black stuff you will need to get some practice before the event, and book a place now. Sorry my house is booked by family every year.
Contact me if you want help planing your route.
