They will probably have made a hell of a lot more if they'd been found guilty. I can imagine several potential litigation files being closed as we type.

The riders cleared of causing death by dangerous driving are back in court on new charges of dangerous driving. Some have already put their hands up while others are going to trial.

Note the judge's comments (in the light of some of the 'discussion' above) that those convicted of dangerous driving bear no responsibility for the deaths of the Slater couple.

That aside, am quite please that neither of them will be on the roads around here for a while.

Its awful tragedy, but we must all take a lesson from it, group riding can/ does lead to some pretty awful riding, we have all seen it, chasing behind each other quite often beyond our own limits.

I understand from a colleague (Gary Baldwin from rapid training who is still an accident investigator in Thames valley) that some forces are actively targeting the hardcore loons who post on you tube, and are using that evidence in court.

There was a case here in Kent a few years ago during the Cannonball Run where a flash super car of some sorts was stopped prior to Dover after a few calls from the public about a speeding motor on the M20. The passenger had been filming the speedo at about 170 . Video recorder seized and successful prosecution followed ...

So yeah - film it and publicly post it at your peril ..

I've recently started using a helmet camera on my daily commute.

I've seen some atrocious driving lately and would like a recording of any incident that I may be involved in.

I don't want someone else's excuse/ initial statement of another "speeding biker appearing from nowhere" to stand unchallenged.
