Motorway ‘blipper’ / smart tags - For ALL news, advice, how to get one and what’s best, irrespective of the country

I have followed this thread with interest. Can someone with factual knowledge help me on a couple of queries that relate to Mango not one of the others.
The current offer is very good but a couple of questions.
1) Do you have to pay a annual charge in year 2. If so how much.
2) Do you pay for the Tag with Mango.
3) Do you have to load any funds into an account.
4) Any other hidden charges.

Thanks in advance. Great thread.
Andrew

I opened an account with APRR, which now calls itself Mango and will become Fulli soon

1. annual fee only charged if you have not used it in 12 months
2. there is a deposit and postage to pay
3. No. I get a bill and then my credit card is charged a few days later
4. No the charging is very clear. A flat fee per month when used and then the actual tolls. Be aware that some tolls from Spain and Portugal can take weeks if not months to appear on your account.

Be aware there might be slight differences in T&C for new customers compared to the agreement I signed in 2018. If you read the above thread, you will note I pay via credit card and they stopped offering this in favour of direct debit causing a few problems until they corrected their systems. I believe the Mango billing system works fine now. I have never had a problem with it.

Because offers change, the current is all here:

But unless I have missed it does not say if you have to pay a deposit for the Tag and if there is a second year annual charge.

if you sign up to the current offer then you get what it says, which is giving you the device for £0. You won't pay anything unless you use it. Looks like they have dropped the "non-use fee" as well

as I said, they might offer different T&C today compared to what others had some time ago. This thread is 10 months old and the company is changing it's name for the 2nd time in a couple of years.

Badge is 'free'. I got two, so was a small charge.

As above, difficult to give you an experienced answer, as the deals change.

Regarding money in account, it's a direct debit, so money is required in whatever account you use.

I have signed up. Form not the easiest but got there in the end. When you use the correct lane what tells you that it has worked ok and that you can proceed.
Thanks for your help.

The barrier goes up :D

If you’re on a bike, just avoid the lanes with “Reserved” written above them and a no motorcycles symbol, they will automatically charge you as a car, other lanes will identify car or bike etc and charge you accordingly

I use the 30kmh lanes and so far have never been decapitated

Looking at the current offer from Mango which looks a great deal, none of my accounts are accepted at the payment stage when you enter the IBAN

Can anyone who has applied successfully please confirm who they bank with? I’d like to set up a bank account with someone who Mango accepts…

Thanks

Read a few pages back: a TransferWise euro account/balance is your friend.

I had the same issue. You want an euro bank that is based in Europe. The account for the euro balances from TransferWise is located in Belgium.

Mine is set up on a Barclays account - the response times from the server is not instant and at first I didn’t think I’d succeeded in opening the Mango account. It did however, some 10 days later, debit my account with €1.00. A couple of days after that the tag arrived. It worked faultlessly in Spain, Portugal and France this summer. All charges correctly identified a motorcycle. The Portuguese charges did take about 35 days to hit my account whereas the Spanish and French charges took about 15 days.

been reading some of these threads, but having travelled some of these peages in France, Ihave been directed several times down a 'bike' lane where we do not have to pay the peage fee. I have no idea how you distinguish one peage from another based on this - but surely I cannot be the only one that has not paid on a peage when on a bike?

only seen these on toll bridges such as Pont de Tancarville or Pont de Normandie and occasionally on the main routes on festival weekends such as Le Mans, MotoGP or Bol d'Or.

Yep. Never been “gifted” anything toll-related on French (or Italian, Spanish, Portuguese) motorways.

About the only time you’ll ever see one.

Yes, I think these are more of a one off to prevent massive queues when thousands of bikes turn up at the same time

Never seen one personally and I’ve been around France a fair bit :nod

Thanks for this… It took about 15mins to open the account and get GBP, USD and Euro accounts set up, so 2 Mango fobs are now on their way to me with zero fees charged and no monthly management fees until next Sept.
