Motorway ‘blipper’ / smart tags - For ALL news, advice, how to get one and what’s best, irrespective of the country

Fulli charge 10 euro if not used in 2 years. I was expecting a charge earlier this year as I went to Germany last year and did not use a toll motorway in Spain in 2023. However, they decided I needed a replacement of my 2018 vintage device to make it compatible with newer kit. This seems to have reset the non-use counter as I did not get a charge.
As for working, in Spain, I had the device in my jacket sleeve pocket and it did not work in May this year. This was a flat rate short toll section on the Madrid ring road. Fortunately, I was able to get past the barrier so did not pay! Lots of alarms but no fine in the post, yet. I moved the device to my tank bag and it worked later in the trip when I used the toll road again as I abandoned a mountain route due to poor weather.

Just set up an account received the emails.
Set up an account with the Fulli APP
Do the tags get sent automatically or do I order them?
Sorry for daft questions

they will send them once you have chosen your plan and set up the payment mandate

they will either take the initial fee of there is one or do a dummy transaction that gets refunded

some people have had problems with this stage using a certain UK banks. There is a workaround by setting up a free Wise account to pay the bills

Yes, it sounds like you have the contract in place if they have registered tags to you so nothing more to do and they will arrive very soon. I have had an APRR (now Fulli) tag since 2018 and their service has been excellent. They offered to send me a new style tag recently to work with the new free flow motorways and it arrived a couple of days after I agreed. No fees and they paid postage to return the old one for recycling.

Thank you

I’m crossing France with the bike at the moment. Haven’t used the bike here, only car, for the last couple of years.

Just one change I noticed: the first few tolls after calais, both the indicated telepeage lanes are 30km/h.
The one on the LEFT is forbidden to bikes, the one on the RIGHT doesn’t have the sign that bars bikes.

I got stuck twice with the bar not opening.

Using all the other gates (they still have the sensor, you can see it on the left of the lane) the telepeage worked flawlessly.

I’m thinking it’s down to some non-communicated lane hardware change (from memory the right lanes weren’t marked 30 before).

Small thing really, but wanted to report it as it seemed a tad confusing.

They took the 1 Euro invoice .then few days later sent 1 Euro back to me.

It seems some people are having issues with Fulli. ?

Was taking a Euro and giving it back to see that account working .

Off to Spain /France in 2 weeks guess I will find if it works.

very common with French companies. Some hotels have done the same to confirm card details for bookings for recent trips, when going direct to the hotel. Presumably because there are obviously problems with communication between some French and British banks.

Fingers crossed for Spain France in 2=weeks

Indeed so. It’s not just French; I have seen UK enterprises and Booking.com (which is Dutch) putting through a ‘test transaction’ of zero, which my credit card provider has asked me to confirm before authorising.

Do you have to activate the fulli tag or does it work straight out of the bag thingy?
Mine arrived swiftly and 87p removed from my account etc...

Assuming your tag works the same way as my tags from Emovis have always done, it should activate just as soon as you reach the correct barrier. The tag can be a bit slow on first activation, so don’t worry unnecessarily. Only panic, when you have been there for an hour or more, being shouted at by angry Frenchmen.

😂😂 Thanks I shall find out on Tuesday.
It's usually me shouting angrily at Italians who can't use the cash barriers on their own motorways.

The anxiety kicks in as you approach the barrier.
Will it open, will I be stranded with dozens of irate drivers behind me?
Creeping forward, nearer and nearer but still no beep…then the beep is heard and the barrier swiftly rises.
First time nerve wracking, second time and you approach the barrier with confidence and swagger ;)

My (usually hugely reliable) Emovis tag * went into an unexpected sulk on Monday morning at 08:15 at the payage barrier at St Omer. The Frenchman driving a hire truck was very cross. A French woman stopped to assure me I was in the wrong lane, as to use the automatic lane, I needed a blipper. She retreated rapidly (as the French are expert at) when I waved the blipper in her direction.

Happy days.

I am now talking to Emovis’ office ooop north, to try to establish if this was a one off glitch (with either the tag or the barrier’s reader) or if the tag itself is suddenly faulty.

* I have used Emovis tags since they first became available to UK owners.

Battery?

Very much live, as confirmed in my account and, separately, by Emovis.

The green bars indicate ‘Good health’, moving to amber, only after usually a few years. Red, is dead.

It is a mystery as to why it didn’t work.

By happy coincidence, Emovis (ooop north) have just this second contacted me.

The say:

A. The tags either work or they don’t.

B. The tag is live and well.

C. They suspect a glitch in the tag’s reader at St Omer.

D. Carry on using it….. but if it fails again, to contact them. This bit I am mildly concerned about :D

Oh well, I’ll give it a go at some point.

PS There is a clear advantage of using Emovis, who have UK phone numbers and UK staff. They are unfailingly helpful.

PPS Eventually the barrier at St Omer, did go up. Whether this was the reader / tag suddenly cooperating or if it was raised by the remote operator (I’d pushed the ‘Speaker to us’ button) I have no idea. I guess I’ll know when my next statement arrives. If I’m billed by Emovis, it’ll be the tag / reader combo. If it’s free, it’ll probably have been the remote operator,
