motorworks fork springs

Hi folks I have 2 pairs of forks for my rt , one has motor works progressive springs the other has stock .
My bike is naked so has anyone used the motorworks springs ? They look rather tight wind top and bottom too me but the stock springs are old and saggy .
Or do any of you guys have any recommendations for fork springs ?

Have you tried either set on the bike? Old springs are likely going to be shot... My 80Rt had completely knackered springs and I replaced them with M/works ones... It was fine enough... My present R100RT has semi shot springs... Soon to be replaced...

The thing is if you ride them pretty hard you soon realise how much suspension in general has come on...

I've tried three sets over the years and never got on with any of them. The coils are wound too tight at the ends reverting the plastic spring retainers from fitting correctly, if you do force them on the springs distort and rub against the inside of the fork leg making your front end creak and groan. The softer centre section also distorts when it's compressed again rubbing against the inside of the leg.

If you have a Haynes manual it gives the upper and lower limits of the standard springs if you are within this it should be fine. Faired bikes have a slightly shorter, firmer spring fitted. These Can be too harsh if the fairings been removed.

81-84 bikes without fairings work well with the longer springs and 7.5w oil

Pre 81 bikes need a slightly lighter oil and the damper piston rings to be in good order.

85 onwards - ask somewhere else

thanks folks ,the shorter springs are now too short and not up too much ,hence why i thought about the motorworks springs ,I think your right about them Rob I may get some wilbers not sure weather too go progressive or Linear fork ,now thats a another thing which is best LOL

Hi I have had a set of Hyperpro forf springs on my R100GS paralever for a couple of years now, i am very happy with them.

I've always preferred linear springs but many prefer progressive so it's personal choice.

I'd use any make over the motorworks springs.

hyperpro look an option too, I will have too bite the bullet this week and get something.
