I want to put a Hella type power socket onto the RT.

The fairing has blanking plugs on both sides, to the rear of the pockets, these happen to be the correct clearance for said socket. Without wanting to remove much gubbins, is this a reasonable place to put it. Looks although the pockets would need removing to access it though.

The socket and female terminal are about 42mm deep, without being wired, is there enough clearance behind here?

I'll be using it for the battery charger,, I know, it's no effort to lift the seat, just feel like fiddling with it:D Don't really want to drill a hole in a side panel.

Thought I'd ask here, in case anyone's done it.

Mine, a '79 R100RT, has a dealer or factory fit socket; it was fitted from new. It is mounted on the left side, adjacent to the chrome "grab handle" for lifting the bike onto the centre stand.

This may or may not help you ? :nenau
