Happy new year everyone:D

Anyone found the best place to put the radio? It's powered off an Autocom Superpro AVI so doesn't need wiring in.

thanks all.

I keep mine in my pocket to be honest, if you need to alter the frequency it's a lot easier to do than having the radio under the seat.

I use the Autocom connection like yourself.

tank bag or kept on person pretty much really as there is no room at all top mount the radio under the bikes seat.

It's a cordura bag and belt that you can get from autocom, fits any radio. It's shower proof, not fully waterproof but then you shouldn't need it with the 3201 as it's IP54/IP55 mil standard
It's part No 1556 Case-z

Seeing as its reasonably waterproof - could you get a RAM mount to mount it somewhere on the handlebars, or maybe closer to the instrument barnacle?

It would have to be removed when you leave the bike though obviously!

No room if you take the toolkit out?

On a smaller radio maybe but not on a kenwood unless you drill a hole in the tray. But we normally fit the main control units into the tray taking up all of the room so no room for the radios etc.

I bought 2 complete set ups at the bike show, and we plan to have them fitted by Autocom in the spring. I had thought to mount the Kenwood in the top box on a semi permanent basis. Has anyone else done this, if so does it work well? Also as an aside does water get at the Autocom unit in the underseat tray? I don't have any sort of hugger fitted, and don't want to drown the new unit.

my radio is in a lock bag attached to the frame which the top box sits on (i don't use the seat) 1200gs and my hubby's 1200adv is in a small tank bag which is sat on the frame were the top box sits. but we did find if you leave you bike tool bag in with it,it will give you interference. don't ask me why but the minute we took it out the sound was spot on with it in it was really crackily.:):)

I just velcro mine onto my top box. I intended to get a waterproof bag for it but it's fared ok in the wet so far. Probably shouldn't tempt fate though:o
It's easy to adjust by just reaching behind you.
Can even be done when riding as long as your on your own private road with no traffic:augie

Should be visible on the bike in front of the scowly man:D
