What's the best solution for mounting the GPS? TT, Migsel, BM, RAM or other?

And, is powering the GPS on a 1200 GSA best from the headset switched socket, or from the battery using the Garmin lead?

My Zumo is mounted on onto my 1200GSA (06) using the free Rammount that came in the box. Whilst it certainly works, I'm not sure I like all the bars and balls, and that the mounting plate is round whilst the Zumo cradle is square edged.

I have just ordered a Migsel mount.

I powered the Zumo, using the power lead that came in the box, grafted onto a BuMW plug into the dedicated socket under the headstock. As the Zumo is battery powered it does not, unlike my old NavIII, turn itself off when the ignition switch is engaged. I do not see much point, therefore, wiring it direct to the battery. Here's how by Stumpy. http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=117400&highlight=zumo+cable

It's easy to graft the BumW male socket on, or you can by a complete ready made lead from TouraTech. http://www.touratech.com/shops/008/product_info.php?cPath=2_32_226&products_id=8378

Thanks, Wapping :thumb2

Not got the Zumo yet but the ram mounts look fussy, when the BM and others look tidier :o Whether it's worth getting the TT ones I'm not convinced yet.

Already got a headstock plug :) as I though there was one of that type on my 06 F650, which if there is I can't find it :blast

I agree about the fussiness.

I tried to get one of the BuMW mounts for the Zumo cradle.

They seem to be in short supply. BuMW Battersea (London) have at least nine on back order. I tried a couple of other dealers, no joy.

I suspect it's because BuMW are bringing out the Nav IV (or is it V?) based on the Zumo 550 so are probably tooling up for the release.
