Mourne Wall - well who knew?

The Mountain Rescue lads had a stand at the Festival Of Flight, so a donation was given & i went away with my new supporters pack stickers & Buff for the bike, These guys can do with all the donations they can get as they provide a service i can't rate highly enough, not only are they on hand to be on call for the likes of myself (Aint that right Davey :D) but also in the last few hard winters they have helped The hill farmers, elderly folk and local Doctors, nurses attend stranded homes. As Gerry C of this parish can confirm they definitely do not do it for financial reward.

.......It was called the Silent Valley because it was closed to motorbikes? True or False

Carefull now....................

There is also a tunnel that links the Annalong valley to the Silent Valley, used to divert water to it. I remember seeing lads go down it on inflatable boats(seaside shop type):eek:think it is at least a mile long. It has a large metal gate on it now on the Annalong valley side, but it is still open on the Silent Valley side.

There is also the annual seven sevens (around this time of year) in the Mournes, a walk/run that goes over the seven highest peaks (over 700 metres) and around 19 miles

It's four miles long :thumb2

Where the tunnel starts in the valley at the bottom of Slieve Binnian is called Dinnywater, about a mile into the mountains from the old Water Commissioners House. It has to be one of the most eerie places I've been, there is a deathly silence, no sounds of wildlife at all.

Beautiful though, this was it in January
