Moving to Triple Black GS from a S1000R......thoughts??

I usually just buy outright but the discount for cash seems to be around 6% and 15-20% on extras, so if i can buy on pcp and get the panniers and ako thrown in and just pay it all off within the 1st month @ the OTR price and get additional discount on the extras the saving would be much better.
 
Is that deal on the gsa or gs only?

They are offering 3 box luggage (panniers and top box) free with the GSA and the panniers and Akro (or swap the Akro for a vario top box) on the Triple Black.

The 3.9% APR is favourable as it usually 5.9% or higher!! I have never bought on PCP and just worried of the unknown. I usually swap bike every year or so and being "forced-as part of a deal" to keep it (or suffer financial penalties) is what bothers me.

getting a new bike in the last year of production is my preference just so you get these great deals, my problem is being patient enough to wait doh !
 
Lots of good questions about the wisdom of PCP.

I'm no accountant ... but there are some striking facts when you compare the above (OP's) quote with a straightforward loan over a similar term.
I can't help feel; some are "hoodwinked" by the "shiny/glossy PCP" and don't look closely enough at the comparison with traditional means of purchase. I'm sorry , but that's far from a "killer" deal. (imho) not unless you use the adjective "killer" in a bad way !

Here are the two side by side; It seems to me the PCP costs £1500 in interest whereas a similar APR loan is just £980 over a similar term?
Maybe I have made an error?

Issues with PCP would include interest rate charged?
What is the chance that at the end of the deal you will have enough equity in the deal to lay down the deposit on a replacement?
How many miles?
Do you want to be really worried about causing any damage to the bike during the rental period?
Do PCP deals allow the manufacturers to increase prices and resist discounting?

If interest rates go up sometime during the next 3 years, you might find that New PCP deals are a lot more expensive, but a PCP deal at under 4% might be attractive, not at 10%
 
But even at similar APR's, similar terms (48mnths in the OP example) ... I just don't see the attraction.

So what are the months payments for a £12000 loan over 4 years???

PCP-£129
Personal loan £266

So monthly repayments are half on a PCP deal!! And I'm given a £5000 cheque for the collateral in my trade bike....to do with what I want!!

Except with the PCP, unless you make the final big payment, you have nothing at the end of the term. With the loan, you own the bike from the outset.
 
But for the joy of having lower payments, you pay almost £600 more in interest.

That's fine; if you are fully aware that's what you are doing .....

But, I strongly suspect, some blindly look at the APR and miss this fact.

I'm not claiming pcp's are automatically bad.
But I do claim that some make the choice without running the comparisons!
 
I sold my S1000r sport to buy a GS.

Apparently on back roads I am quicker....anyway, bar for 120mph plus lunacy or trackdays you wont be disappointed. Handling superb (though I am looking at improving). 125bhp may sound well down, but the torque/push out of corners is impressive. The electronic suspension works very well. was never convinced of it on the S1. The ESA settings really make a difference. The brakes are not 1 finger strong like the S1, but again its a heavy bike and not designed to be as sharp.

The only negatives I can come up with is ltd tyre choice and the bike is heavy when at stand still. gearbox could be sweeter, quick riding may be ok and doesnt show it up, but riding steady exposes an agricultural change at times.

Pilot road 4s work very well at all speeds, wet or dry. Rear doesnt last long, front will last 2 rears. Though my front is cupping a bit on the sides (Scotland!!). That said, the Superduke that was with us had well ripped tyres (Sportsmarts) and he could only keep up on straights.
150 miles to a tank when quick riding with Fz1s, Superdukes, Zx10 and Hypermotards is a nice plus.

Yeah that's my thoughts the GS would be better in the real world.

Thanks for all of your comments etc I think I'm going to let this deal pass and maybe save some cash and actually buy the bike-I just can't get the feeling that the PCP is not for me......

A GS will be my next bike at some point......but not just yet!!
 
good luck, I put off a few yeas, but when they got the LC right that helped make my mind up.

Its a great laugh to see sport bikes backing off due to bad road surface and just pulling away from them funnier still with full luggage. ;)

Dont discount a cheeky offer on a nearly new over the winter months. i knocked a grand off the asking price and still got full 12 month warranty.
 
2 year warranty with all used bikes now!

No way I could take the GS up the 'top end' of the rev range in first and second from a standing start without the mother of all whips from the shaft drive on gear change. I'd be off...nearly have been.
