Has anyone ever got 300 miles out of a 2005 GS tank ? not GSA.

I could do it easily if I took the tank off the 1200gs and fitted it on the 650GS, well in truth I wouldnt even be able to do it then.
Mind you its nice to dream.

Thinking about it I have no real idea how many miles id get to a full tank on the 1200. I fill up almost always when the first bar on the fuel gauge blinks off.
I must one day run it to the reserve atleast that way I have an idea of how fa I can go.
Trouble is it hurts my pocket putting two gallons in let alone three plus gallons!

Could you get 67 mpg out of a GS? Yes (I've seen that before)
....would you want to ride a GS in way that would return you 67 mpg for a whole 300 miles is another question - And the answer to that depends on the need. If I had to yes, but unless it was an absolute nessesity it would be a no

That's about the only sensible answer in this thread.
I usually expect to get around 10 miles to a litre on my gsa, I have on occasion fitted in just over 35 litres when almost empty,
So I usually expect to get 320-330 miles before.needing fuel.
I have also on occasion needed fuel at 280 miles, [long run on fast motorway] so its dropped to less than 9 mpl
On occasion I have run to nearly 400 miles before needing fuel, an increase to aprox 12 mpl,
So 300 miles divided by the gs's 22 litres you would need to do 13.5 ish mpl

Ive had 400 miles from my GSA, but i was too chicken to try any further lol
On a run from Bristol to Kent last month i got 49 mpg filled up when low fuel light came on new to me bike so uncertain what was left 13.5 ltr fill up 07 1200 GS that was around 167 all figures approximate as i am working from memory on this one

I never like to get anywhere near empty but I have calculated my mpg before. I usually average 49mpg, so with a 20 litre tank I'd get 215 miles (assuming my maths is correct 
)

Ive had 340 from the GSA. It must have been running on fumes when I filled up. It took more than 34 litres to brim the tank.
Power Commander has made anything over 300 miles a bit too risky especially since the fuel strip packed up. Ive just bought a Givi 2.5 litre fuel can to use as reserve. I don't need even more capacity but with a big tank infrequent fills its easy to forget and get caught out.

If you only put 13.5 litres in you were good for another 100 miles at 12.3 mpl

Tank size aside I average 48mpg by the onboard computer.

I used to get about the same but dropped about 2mpg on a run and maybe 5 mpg about town when I fitted the Power Commander. The bike is so much nicer to use I'm happy to put up with the increased consumption but it could probably be improved with a dyno test. Standard bikes can run very weak which is bad for exhaust valves but headline high mpg massages the figures for sales purposes.

I get about 10 and bit to the litre with standard map. Knock off 10% with the Power Commander.
Its easy enough 45mpg = 10 miles to the litre. So do the sums. If you tend to average better than that you'll have some fuel in reserve. If you don't, just allow a boogeration factor.

I can assure that these figures are one hundred per cent accurate, I myself just could not believe it was possible but it just goes to show what is possible... and my bike as an accelerator fitted! To e fair though that ride out was amazingly sedate... imagine a nun on sedatives... the guys I was with thought they were going to get booked every small village up so stuck to every limit and that was the result. I was using the very best fuel though I think that defo helps.
