About to register my Dubai-purchased bike in the UK and need to show mph not kms on the clock. Anyone come across any sort of overlay for the clock? I'm trying to avoid buying a new one. Bmw doesn't supply anything and I've tried a couple of bike accessory places, the next stop might be an art supplies/stationer's place.

Need to convert to left-hand drive too.

You don't mention what bike you have, which might help, but if you need to put it through the UK single vehicle approval test (SVA) stick on numbers won't be accepted by VOSA.

The regulations specify that you must be able to read the MPH symbols at night, being illuminated through the speedo face.

If your bike's over ten years old it doesn't matter, as it's exempt from type approval. All it will need is an MOT and then a MPH speedo isn't even required. :nenau

I put a new speedo (kph to mph £80 inc next day delivery) on my GSA, it only takes about 30 minutes and seems a lot simpler than and neater than stickers (but thats just my opinion).

Your lucky day

I've got one sat on the shelf in the shed, consider it yours:beerjug:

Let me know how/when/where/why/if and anything else you nee to know

Doh!

If you want the speedo, give me a bell. I might be able to use a km/h speedo anyway, and it will only cost the postage.

Andres - in case you're not aware, the headlamp on the 1150GS is adjustable for left and right hand drive - check the owner's manual, it's very simple to do...

Mike:)

Thanks everyone, much appreciated.

The bike is a 2003 1150GS by the way, and I have adjusted the headlamp already. The left-hand drive reference was a weak (and over-used) attempt at a joke.

Thanks for the offer Vern, I'll take you up on that. I'm out of the country for the next ten days but will give you a ring when back and a text in the meantime. I'm happy to swap mine for yours, if yours is an 1150 that is. If not, may spring for a new one or look at the 'Redial' suggestion.

Good to hear from you all.

Cheers, Andy
