1. It is a good idea to place your start position, say a mile away down the road from where you’ll be actually starting from. Why? It gives modern devices, like the XT, somewhere to aim for. From there, the route will run normally. Not least, the device will know exactly where you are standing, prior to departure, it does not need to be told.

2. Exporting in version 1.1 will bring across with it the blue dots of all and any shaping points. These are useful as a visual check that the route you’ve imported, matches the original.

3. MyRoute recommends placing a shaping point every five kilometres (three miles). It’s best practice to do so, as it helps to pin the route into place on transfer.
